Yeah heard that last week. Thank fuck. Gotta be Cahill and Lescott as the CB pairing for me. Combination of pace and quality. Cahill brings a good attacking threat too.

Rooney, Crouch, Defoe, Welbeck, Carroll and Bent.

Oh yeah forgot about Rooney missing the first two games. I really don't know. Could go either way with the strikers. If Bent is fit enough then I expect he would go. Defoe has scored like 17 goals without playing loads of games so you would fancy him going aswell. Welbeck is an outside chance. Don't forget Sturridge could as well but he is more likely to be classed as a winger. Between Carroll and Crouch only one will probably go. Crouch has scored goals for England but he's a player I have never been convinced that he can make a massive impact on the big stage. Carroll is a lot more unplayable than Crouch and recently he is showing how good he actually is. Imagine Carroll against any of the European back lines. He would be destructive. Read this week that Carroll has won more aerial battles than any player in the 5 top European leagues and he hasn't even played well or been involved until recent couple of months. He is just more of a presence than Crouch.

Since there is a squad of 23, I would guess they will take 4/5 strikers so mine would be:

Rooney
Bent
Defoe
Carroll
And if a fifth is to be taken then a toss up between Crouch and Welbeck with Sturridge being classed as a winger. If Bent doesn't make it then Welbeck would definitely go I think.

Welbeck has to be taken, and has to start.

class player, great work rate, great all round play. just needs to be more clinical in finishing. Second best english striker at the moment, might be a risk to start him on his own, but when rooney is eligible to play welbeck should play with him.
