Curren$y is gearing up for the release of his eighth studio album ‘The Stoned Immaculate’ which is set to drop on June 5th, and the one-time Young Money rapper took the opportunity to explain how Lil Wayne got on the album’s second single ‘Jet Life.’ According to Curren$y, the two rapper’s never had a beef with one another and he simple left Young Money to do his own thing.
Curren$y explained that he was simply looking for some independence when he left Young Money and added that there wasn’t much discussion once he had made his decision. “Me and Wayne, we never had a falling out… He was never like ‘you’re out of Young Money’ or like ‘I’m out of Young Money.’ It was like ‘yo, I understand this, this is cool,’ but clearly, you know me, I wanted to do this, I wanted to do what I wanted to do. So, the only way to do what you want to do is in your own house,” Curren$y told HipHopWired.com.
Curren$y premiered the album at a private listening party which was hosted by Karen Civil in Los Angeles at the Diamond Supply Co. earlier this month. During the event, Spitta revealed that he won’t rely on a single producer for the album which has been typical of his past efforts.
In addition to ‘Jet Life,’ which also features Wiz Khalifa and Big K.R.I.T., the rapper has put out the Wale supported track ‘What It Look Like’ as well as the 2 Chainz backed ‘Capitol,’ and the album is slated to feature Pharrell, Daz Dillinger and several other artists.
