With the forthcoming release of Scratch: The Ultimate DJ game set to take-on competition from Jay-Z’s DJ Hero and Timbaland’s Beaterator, SOHH spoke with Quincy “QD3″ Jones III about his new venture and snagging along artists like Lil Wayne and Kanye West.

According to QD3, the game will feature a variety of old-school and new records for players to kick back with.

“We’ve had complete freedom to make this game true to what people would probably want it to be,” Jones explained. “We’ve tried to represent all the different [groups] from old-school hip-hop break beats to some of the newest hits like Kanye West’s ‘Flashing Lights.’ Lil Wayne and so on and so on, Tech N9ne. I think we represented all of the different regions of hip-hop. So it’s a little something in there for everybody. Little R&B, Salt-N-Pepa, Whodini to Lil Wayne to Kanye West, it’s pretty full in that sense.”

The game will also feature tracks from various regional artists.

Music includes Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc,” RUN DMC’s “Peter Piper,” Nelly’s “Hot In Herre,” Deltron’s “Mastermind,” Murs’ “Looking Fly,” Kid Koala’s “Skanky Panky,” Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s “They Reminisce,” The Knux’s “Life in a Cage,” and more.

Reports of the new project’s creation landed online last fall.

7 Studios made a move toward being the first studio to renew the turntable-based rhythm game, announcing partnerships with DJ equipment manufacturer Numark and hip-hop producer Quincy Jones III, along with Genius Products and Genco Interactive. Dubbed, Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, the game will be played using a turntable controller, the “Scratch Deck,” designed by Numark, which promises to “allow players to re-imagine songs on the fly and add their own creativity” (no word on an MC counterpart — or b-boy, for that matter). 7 Studios joins Activision and presumably any other company with half a brain as it vies for precious mindshare of the next potential gaming phenomenon.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards 2009 nominations were announced yesterday (September 16) on 106 & Park, along with the highly respected renowned rapper, actor, screenwriter, film producer and director Ice Cube who will receive this year’s “I Am Hip-Hop” Icon Award. Kanye West leads the pack with nine nominations as Hip-Hop’s crowning night returns to Atlanta on Saturday, October 10.

Hosted by actor and comedian Mike Epps, the hip-hop event of the year returns to Atlanta’s Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center on Saturday, October 10 to celebrate the biggest names in the game – both on the mic and in the community.

Last night some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest acts were honored at the 2009 BMI Urban Awards.

Reuters reports that Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Kanye West and Polow Da Don were among the big winners of the night. Both Weezy and Pain shared the Songwriter of the Year trophy while both Ye and Polow earned Producer of the Year credits. “No Air,” the collaboration between Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, was named Song of the Year.

Funk music legend George Clinton was presented with the BMI Icon Award. Big Boi, Cee-Lo Green, Janelle Monae and Dallas Austin were among the artists that payed homage to the Parliament Funkadelic leader in a montage of his greatest hits.

Miami Boss Rick Ross was also in attendance last night as he kicked off the event performing his hit “Magnificent.”

Here is the mastered version of Drake’s “Forever” track which features Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Eminem. This will be the final version of the record and it looks like they didn’t go with a R&B singer on the hook. The only difference I seemed to hear was that Kanye added a few extra bars at the beginning of his verse. This song was produced by Boi-1da and these 4 superstars will shoot the video for this massive hit next month!

With “Forever,” the monster collaboration by Toronto-upstart Drake and rap superstars Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem, leaking onto the net yesterday (August 26) and subsequently causing a frenzy with hip-hop fans, XXLMag.com caught up with producer Boi-1da to get more insight into how the song came together.

According to the T-Dot beatmaker, the track was initially meant to introduce Drake last year. “We made that song maybe last summer,” he explained to XXL. “It was originally supposed to be a song that Drake was supposed to come out to, maybe we were trying to make it like a first single. Somehow it got leaked out onto the Internet, a version with him, Wayne and some dude named [Nut da] Kid and everybody was upset about it or whatever, but we knew that it was just a huge record and we had to do it justice.”

The song’s rebirth started about three months ago when Kanye decided to record a verse. “Originally it was supposed to be Drake and Kanye,” he continued, “but the forces that be pulled some strings and we got Eminem and Wayne on it too.“

Boi-1da says that Drake wrote the hook and his verse first. Then Kanye penned his bars as a response to Drake. Wayne then recorded his verse after hearing Drizzy and Ye’s, and Em heard everyone’s rhymes before writing his own.

When asked who he feels spit the best verse, Boi-1da was quick to state his opinion. “Honestly I’m gonna have to be biased and say Drake,” he said, “really it’s between Drake and Eminem. I’ve never seen anybody hold up on a song with Eminem, like usually Eminem blows out. Drakes my dude, and he’s my favorite rapper, but knowing Eminem I thought he was gonna blow by everybody, but Drake came strong. It’s like a toss up. And like that’s never been done before, I never head a toss up between Eminem, it’s always just Eminem cause he’s a monster.”

Mack Maine, president of Young Money Records, told MTV news that they are currently trying out R&B singers to redo the chorus. “That’s news to me,” he said. “I like the hook as it is.”

“Forever” hits iTunes tomorrow. It will be included in the soundrack to the LeBron James documentary More Than a Game.

I have heard that Chris Brown, Lloyd, The Dream, Trey Songz and Jeremiah have all layed down a hook for this song, and which ever hook sounds the best will get used on the final version, but these are just rumors!

According to MTV News, Young Money president Mack Maine spilled the beans on the song saying that “they re-did it, it got mixed over the weekend, now it’s getting mastered,” as well as Rich Paul, who works with Lebron James, saying this (in the audio above):

“Forever” will appear on as part of a collection of tracks inspired by the film (due in theaters October 2), with the soundtrack coming on September 22 on Interscope Records. Polow Da Don will executive produce the set, which will also include songs by T.I., Mary J. Blige, and Young Jeezy.

“Forever” was initially supposed to be only Drake and Kanye:

“It was done, it was just Drake and Kanye, and then they went back and got two more prolific talents and it just made it even crazier, ” Paul told MTV News late Tuesday. “They blessed Drake crazy.”

The song came together when Gee Roberson, an executive at Atlantic Records who also manages West and helps to oversee the careers of Drake and Wayne, visited LeBron during the playoffs in May.

“He came over and played this — it was me, LeBron and Maverick [Carter, James' manager],” said Paul, who will co-executive produce the project for James’ camp. “And he played the track, it was hot. It went right with the movie, it was like perfect for a moment that you want to be forever. And when he decided to put Wayne, Drake, Kanye and Eminem on it [together], it just makes is better. It’s one of those songs fans will really want to hear forever. It’s that type of feeling.”

Lil Wayne as long expressed a desire to rap alongside Eminem on a track — and now, he’s done it.

So to sum it all up, this will be the beat for the song:

But, Drake and Lil Wayne will have new verses along with two extra verses from Eminem and Kanye West.
