According to AllHipHop, Lil Wayne and Young Money Touring Inc. are suing a former booking agency for $375,000. Weezy has been working with the booking agency, Ujaama Talent Agency Inc., since 2008 and has been on four different tours booked by Ujaama. They owe Tunechi $375,000 in proceeds from his Americas Most Wanted Music Festival, both the Summer and Winter tours. Rapper Lil Wayne and his company Young Money Touring Inc. has filed a lawsuit against a former booking agent who allegedly stole $375,000 in touring proceeds.

Lawyers for Lil Wayne filed a lawsuit against Ujaama Talent Agency Inc. and the company’s owners, Erskine Isaac, David Nelson on August 16th in the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

According to the lawsuit, Lil Wayne has worked with the company since the early stages of his career, by organizing and scheduling tours for the chart-topping rap star on a non-exclusive basis.

Between 2008 and January of 2010, Lil Wayne participated in four different tours with Ujaama.

A dispute broke out between the two companies over the proceeds of the two “America’s Most Wanted Music Festival” tours in Summer and Winter of 2009.

Around October of 2009, when Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to possessing a gun on his tour bus, he again engaged the services of Ujaama to book a national tour before he went to jail on Rikers Island.

The lawsuit claims that Isaac and Nelson “elected to divert to Ujaama’s own bank account an amount not less than $375,000, the sum that Isaac and Nelson maintain is owed to Ujaama for the tours in question.

Lil Wayne‘s lawyer Ronald Sweeney had various conversations with the pair and asked for the money back, but Isaac and Nelson refused to return the money.

Just this week, Forbes named Lil Wayne the 4th best-earner in Hip-Hop, after he earned $20 million dollars over the past 12 months.

David Banner and producer Deezle sue “The Carter Documentary” maker, QD3:

The latest lawsuit filed in connection to Lil Wayne, comes from none other than David Banner.

The Mississippi MC/producer is suing the maker of the infamous “The Carter” documentary, Quincy Jones III better known as QD3.

According to Courthouse News, Banner, real name Lavell Crump, producer Darius “Deezle” Harrison and The Royalty Network Inc. filed a lawsuit in New York Southern District Court Thursday claiming copyright infringement against Jones.

CN reports that in the lawsuit, QD3 used two of Banner’s songs in the documentary without his permission; “La La” from Tha Carter III and “Pussy Monster”, a track added to Tha Carter III after “Playing With Fire” was removed due to previous litgation.

Courthouse News also reports that named in the lawsuit is Virgil Films and Entertainment, LLC, the distribution company for the documentary. – HotSpotATL

Lil Wayne and producers get sued for Tha Carter III single, “Lollipop”:

Young Money CEO, Lil Wayne has been slapped with yet another lawsuit surrounding his 2008 hit Hip Hop music single “Lollipop“.

Philadelphia rapper Dirahn Gilliams filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Friday April 30th for Work ID: 371875615 which is listed with ASCAP. Gilliams is claiming that the song “Lollipop” was based on his 2007 song “Grindin’ Like a Goon”.

Lil Wayne, producer Darius “Deezle” Harrison, James “Jim Jonsin” Scheffer, Rex Zamor, Cash Money, Young Money and Universal have all been named in the lawsuit.

In April 2007, Gilliams sent out a copy of his song to Flo Rida, Brisco, executive Kevon Glickmon, and producers Deezle and Jim Jonsin claiming Young Money received the copy from one of these entities though Flo Rida and Glickman were not mentioned in the lawsuit.

Gilliams is accusing Wayne and Jim Jonsin for illegally using portions of his song for “Lollipop” in 2008.

Jonsin and Deezle are both suing Lil Wayne as well, making the situation more complicated.

Gilliams is seeking to prevent further sales of Tha Carter III and “Lollipop“, not counting monetary damages, lost profits, actual damages, restitution and compensatory and punitive damages that he is suing for. – HipHopRX

This time, the producer Bangladesh is suing Lil Wayne for Tha Carter III single – “A Milli“. Weezy has previously been sued for a few C3 tracks including: “Got Money“, “Mrs. Officer“, “Lollipop“, “Playing With Fire“, and now “A Milli“. Lil Wayne may be locked in Rikers Island away from the industry, but that’s not stopping some of his associates from handling business with him. Grammy award-winning producer, Shondrae “Bangladesh” Crawford has a bone to pick with Mr. Dwayne Carter. A $500,000 bone.

“I don’t fuck with Lil Wayne… and you can print that,” Bangladesh told VIBE, when asked if fans should anticipate a reunion come his 2011 release. “Cash Money don’t pay royalties. Tha Carter III, is his biggest album probably because of “A Milli”. But you have to sue these guys so that they pay up.”

The Atlanta beatmaker disclosed that he is suing for an estimated 500 Gs in owed royalty checks for his work on “A Milli“, one of Wayne‘s most revered records of all time. A single that earned him Best Rap Solo Performance at the 2009 Grammy’s and gave Tha Carter III ammunition to sell a million records it’s first week of release in June 2008.

“It’s Wayne and Baby’s responsibility to pay me because all the money from album sales goes to Cash Money. I get checks from Sony for Beyonce, checks from different labels for different artists, it just comes to you. You don’t have to call them, sue them and all that junk. This is what you’re owed.”

He continues, “I don’t really give a fuck about Wayne. I can’t give a fuck about somebody that don’t give a fuck about my situation, I have kids. In the hood, people get killed for ten dollars. I couldn’t imagine owing someone hundreds of thousands of dollars and just walking around in front of them. I’m so confident in myself, that I don’t need Lil Wayne. There’s gonna be so many opportunities. I can create a Lil Wayne“.

A nominee for VIBE’s Best Producer of All-Time, Bangladesh went on to explain the corrupted process of Cash Money, centering on Baby.

“This is why Mannie Fresh don’t fuck with Cash Money because he never got any royalty money. That’s why Baby can go around flaunting this cash, because that’s everyone else’s money… It’s not even Wayne‘s fault. Wayne is not getting money. He is given money, he’s not getting money. If Baby gets a million dollars he’ll buy Wayne a Phantom, but that’s in Cash Money’s name. That 14-bedroom mansion isn’t Wayne shit,” he says. “That’s why he have his own company, because he was trying to leave Cash Money and the only thing that would keep him there was if they gave him his own thing. But Baby still controls that. All those Young Money artists don’t even know that they not getting royalty money.”

Bangladesh, who secured his placement on The Carter III when his friend and Young Money artist, Shanell suggested the “A Milli” beat to Wayne, recalls the first time he met self-proclaimed Best Rapper Alive. “Wayne is a different guy. I first stepped to him years ago. Don’t know if he was on drugs, but he ignored me,” Bang says. “This was before ‘A Milli‘. I didn’t sweat it because I told myself that one day, I ain’t gotta say nothing, he’s gonna like the music.” The premonition came to life indeed. However, it’s been almost two years since “A Milli” made it’s game-changing impact and Bang says the New Orleans MC has still never uttered a ‘Thank you’ his way.

“This industry is a devilish game. And these are devils controlling the game,” says Bangladesh who swears by self-rule. “I don’t wanna be caught up in it. I don’t wanna break bred with devils.”

I hope Birdman sorts out this mess, because these lawsuits are the last things Wayne needs while inside bars.

Last year, Lil Wayne got hit with a lawsuit for one of his tracks that leaked called “I Feel Like Dying“, because of a sample clearance problem. Then in April last year, Wayne sued Jim Jonsin who was the producer of the beat saying that it was his job to make sure they had the rights to use the sample.

Now, Jim Jonsin has filed a $500,000 lawsuit against Weezy over his hit single – “Lollipop“. Jim, who is the producer of “Lollipop” and helped write the track is saying that Wayne hasn’t paid anything in royalties for his work on the song that went to number one in the USA.

I really don’t know why Jim Jonsin is only just filing this lawsuit though… like why has it took him so long Also, it looks like Lil Wayne is getting sued for most of Tha Carter III album singles. First it was “Mrs. Officer“, then “Got Money“, and now “Lollipop“. Plus we all know Weezy is currently in jail, so I’m guessing Birdman will help sort this problem out, because the last thing Wayne needs is more legal trouble!

A Florida man wants rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman to show him respect — for using his voice on a song with that title.

Thomas Marasciullo filed a copyright infringement lawsuit Friday in a Manhattan federal court against the rappers, their record label and various music distribution outlets.

The lawsuit says Cash Money Records had him record some “Italian-styled” repartee in 2006. The suit says his work was used without pay or permission on “Respect” and other tracks from the rappers’ joint 2006 album “Like Father, Like Son” and Birdman‘s 2007 album “5 Star Stunna“.

A lawyer and representatives for the label didn’t immediately return messages.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for Marasciullo, who lives in Florida’s Hernando County.

Play N Skillz who produced Lil Wayne‘s single from Tha Carter III, “Got Money” spoke on the rumors around them suing Weezy for not paying them. They said: “Damn nearly every producer on that album hasn’t been paid”.

Citing a lack of a convincing legal argument, a New York federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against DJ Drama and several others over claims they used the music of Cash Money Records‘ artists without compensation.

Hip hop fans had come to know Drama as a frequent collaborator of Cash Money super star Lil’ Wayne, but tensions with the label reportedly rose when the popular DJ began to make moves to push his product in retail stores instead of with street vendors.

After hearing both sides of the story, the judge threw the case out of court, saying Cash Money‘s lawyers neglected to provide a “valid legal claim against [the] defendants.”

“[The] plaintiff (Cash Money Records) had requested that the case be dismissed ‘without prejudice;’ which would have meant that Cash Money could try again,” Wallace Collins, an attorney for BCD Music Group, another party named in the case, told AllHipHop.com. “However, the judge agreed with our request that it be dismissed ‘with prejudice;’ which basically drives a stake through the heart of the action and puts the final nail in the coffin of this lawsuit; it’s over and done!”

Though their business dealings with each other seemed to be in disarray, Drama maintained from the beginning that there was no beef between himself and Wayne.

“The accusations against me are misplaced,” Drama stated. “This is not a case of Lil Wayne vs. DJ Drama. Me and Wayne are good. I am confident that this matter will be resolved quickly without harming the relationships between myself, Wayne and Cash Money Records.”

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly been granted additional time by a federal judge who has postponed his upcoming copyright lawsuit.

The decision was reportedly made in court yesterday (August 11) afternoon.

A federal judge has agreed to postpone a trial for a lawsuit that accuses rapper Lil Wayne of sampling another artist’s work without permission. U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman didn’t immediately set a new date for the trial that was scheduled to start October 26. The copyright infringement suit claims Lil Wayne failed to secure permission to sample folk singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s song “Once” on his track “I Feel Like Dying.”

His record label reportedly requested a delay earlier this summer.

Universal Music Group also is named as a defendant in the suit because the company allegedly had a hand in posting Lil Wayne’s song on a MySpace.com page where millions of fans downloaded it for free. Universal had asked Feldman for more time to prepare for a trial.

Weezy filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the “I Feel Like Dying” producer who, he said, was responsible for clearing the original song’s sample.

A lawsuit by the rapper’s lawyers says Rebel Rock Productions Inc., of Coconut Creek, Fla., produced “I Feel Like Dying” and was responsible for obtaining any necessary licensing agreements. Rebel Rock hasn’t responded to Lil Wayne’s claims and doesn’t have a lawyer named in court records. A telephone number listed for the company has been disconnected.

He was originally sued over the track in May 2008.

A lawsuit filed last year against Lil Wayne accuses him of copyright infringement for failing to get permission to sample folk singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s song “Once” in his track “I Feel Like Dying.” The song isn’t a track on any of Lil Wayne’s records, but he allegedly sings it in concert and has allowed fans to download it for free on his Web site.

Lil Wayne’s manager is countering a Bahamian promoter’s claim that the rapper missed 2008 concert because he was “unconscious” at the time of the scheduled performance.

On Thursday July 9 TMZ.com reported that Red City Entertainment had filed a lawsuit against the multi-platinum artist in regards to a missed appearance on September 27 of last year. More information on that can be read here.

The promoters claim that when Wayne was a no-show at the venue, police officers discovered him unconscious in his hotel room.

Red City’s suit seeks a total of $432,000, with $210,000 of the amount representing Wayne’s advance, and the rest covering travel and other expenses tied to the show.

But Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, offers a much different account of the events.

In a statement sent to AllHipHop.com, Bryant explained that the September 27 date was actually a make up date for a concert scheduled the day before.

“Our show was set for September 26th last year,” Bryant explained. “We arrived on time, ready to perform and learned that due to lack of payment from the promoters. The sound company they had hired packed up and left the venue before Wayne was scheduled to hit the stage. So they were forced to cancel the show. On those grounds, at that moment, they were in breach of contract and forfeited their deposit.”

Bryant went on to explain that after several requests by the promoters, Wayne agreed to reschedule the show for the 27th, his birthday, despite having made it abundantly clear that he did not want to work on that date.

But Wayne’s agreement to perform was contingent on the promoters’ promise to ensure that all arrangements surrounding the performance were up to a certain standard, Bryant said.

“I presented their case to Wayne and he said he would do it if the promoters had everything right, based on our contract,” he added. “I then told the promoters to extend our rooms and if, and only if, there were no problems at the venue, then he would take the stage.

“When I arrived at the venue, the security was horrible, causing it to be an unsafe environment and the sound system wasn’t up to our contracted standard,” Bryant continued. “I then told the promoters Wayne wasn’t coming because they didn’t have their setup to a contracted standard for the second night in a row.”

Bonus: Lil Wayne’s hectic touring schedule last year contributed heavily to the total earnings of $18 million that landed him the number six position on the 2009 Forbes’ list of Hip-Hop Cash Kings.
