Lil Wayne’s, Drake’s and Lil Twist’s manager, Cortez Bryant, speaks on Weezy’s Tha Carter IV album in VIBE Magazine’s latest issue which hits newsstands later this week. Before Lil Wayne went to jail he told me, “When I’m gone, I don’t want my fans to feel like they miss me.” So he gave me Tha Carter IV before he went in- 20-something songs. Gee and I listened to them, but as time went on- I talk to Wayne everyday- it inspired me that he’d been writing inside. So I decided I wanna brand Carter IV as that Wayne the world’s been waiting to hear. It’s now gonna be all fresh-out-of jail material. Tha Carter Brand is so large I wanna make sure we don’t go backwards.

So basically, I think what Wayne’s team are gonna do is put 10 of the songs from what Wayne gave Tez on the I’m Not A Human Being EP (dropping September 27th), and then when Wayne gets out of prison he will re-do all of Tha Carter IV album. We have already heard one song from the EP and we know for a fact that Lil Twist and T-Streets will be featured on there. There are also some rumors going around that a new version of “Told Y’all” and a new version of “I’m Not A Human” will be on the EP along with the “30 Minutes to New Orleans” track (but using a different beat). Lil Wayne won two awards at the very first MTV2 Sucker Free Summit, which was held earlier today (July 25). Weezy won an award for The People’s Crown which was for his “Drop The World” single featuring Eminem, and an award for Mixtape Of The Year which was for his No Ceilings tape. Birdman picked up Tune’s first award and Drizzy who was dressed up as Wayne wearing dreads picked up his second with Marley G, Lil Twist and NO Capo in the back. “Lil Wayne, it’s such a shame,” Joe told MTV News. “He’s in great spirits. I love Lil Wayne; that’s like my little brother. He’s just the coolest dude on Earth. I tell you one thing, him not being high made me realize how much funnier he is. This guy has jokes. We were up in there for four hours, just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor.

“He’s a beautiful dude,” Joe continued. “He did what he did. He had a gun on him, but people don’t really know how much of a great father that he is, great of a person he is, a friend, a loyal dude. He’s charismatic. It’s just sad to see him over there like that, but I’m pretty sure he learned his lesson, and he’s gonna be focused.” – MTV

Another thing that didn’t fit into the story was that he had reached out to Lil Wayne in jail. He wrote him a letter but he had just sent it a few days before I talked to him. He said he was still in touch with people who were going through the low points in their career like he was years ago and so he reached out to Wayne to sort of let him know he was supporting him. – SOHH

Mannie Fresh Claims Lil Wayne Tried To Ex Him Out The Game

Cash Money Records producer Mannie Fresh recently talked about his stint on Birdman’s label and claimed Lil Wayne tried to get him out of the picture:

“I just seen the dude grind, he’s doing his thing, that’s all I can really say and the biggest compliment, not to pat myself on the back but you start from somewhere, you will see you grow into something and you graduated from this school and look at the results. That’s all I can say. But there are times even with him, and this is not a hater statement but I guess it was because of things that were going on, he tried to ex me out of it. You cant ex me out of it, I am apart of your history. A Hot Boys reunion is possible, I can tell you this, Juvenile can tell you this, I don’t know how Wayne feel but BG can tell you this, all that depends on them, cutting the check and that’s the last line of it.” – SOHH

Rasheeda’s sorority-styled “Bed Rock Remix” featuring Kandi, Diamond, Lola Monroe and Antonia “Toya” Johnson caught many people off guard after its late April release. For one, it was an unlikely adaptation, but more so, the song debuted Lil Wayne’s famed-ex-wife-turned-reality-star, Toya rhyming a decent 16. Expect more where that came from.

“I’mma try it and test it out. A mixtape or album depends on how this one goes by myself,” says Toya. “I always had a little urge to rap, but never really wanted to because sometimes it doesn’t come off lady like. Then of course Wayne is a rapper so I thought people would be like, ‘Oh she’s trying to rap because Wayne rap.’ So I was like let me just play around with something.”

“It’s crazy because now that I did a little bit of that song everybody’s been coming to me like, ‘Oh can we hear something else? Your accent is so cute. You sound so cute rapping.’ I’m like wow.”

As a platinum-selling rapper, Wayne found his ex’s flow a bit more amusing than impressive. “Wayne laughed at me on the “Bed Rock Remix”. That’s what men do. They’re never going to tell you you’re good or to keep going with it. You know their slick side.”

Toya also explains that her and Wayne rarely if ever, discuss music. They’re relationship revolves strictly around shared 11-year-old daughter, Reginae. The newfound rapper cleared the air about reports stating that an mp3 player had been found within Rikers Island, intended for Wayne.

“All of that stuff about MP3s and cell phones… that’s not true. I don’t know where that stuff comes from,” says Toya. “Yes, I did confirm with him. He doesn’t know where any of this is coming from. Wayne doesn’t entertain that. But he’s doing great.” – VIBE

Kevin Rudolf’s upcoming album To The Sky will be hitting stores the same day as Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later – June 15th! We have already heard the first single from the album, “I Made It” aka “Cash Money Heroes”, and now I have found out that Weezy’s and Kevin’s collaboration record “Spit In Your Face“, will be featured on his album too. I’m not sure what has gone on with this track, because I thought it was going to be on Wayne’s Rebirth album… so I’m guessing there will be some changes to the final version when it drops!

No one is more disappointed that Lil Wayne is jailed on gun charges than the cop who saved the rapper’s life 15 years ago after an accidental shot to the chest.

“It’s sad to see somebody get involved with guns like that – any kid, no matter who they are,” said Robert Hoobler, a New Orleans Police Department cop for two decades.

“I’m sorry to see that happened to him, but at least he admitted to what happened and took his medicine,” said Hoobler, 53, who now works for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Hoobler is more of an AC/DC and Metallica fan, but he has genuine affection for Lil Wayne.

They crossed paths in 1994 when Lil Wayne was a seventh grader living in New Orleans’ rough Hollygrove neighborhood. A call came in for shots fired, and Hoobler and other cops rushed to the address.

“We heard loud music the first time, but nothing the second time – just a little voice moaning for help,” Hoobler said.

The cops kicked in the door and found Lil Wayne covered in blood. He had dragged himself from the bedroom to the front of the apartment, leaving a bloody trail.

There were no ambulances immediately available, so Hoobler cradled Lil Wayne in his arms as they raced in a police cruiser to the nearest hospital.

That saved the rapper’s life, doctors said.

Lil Wayne has acknowledged Hoobler’s heroics in person and in the press and he’s become a a bit of a local celebrity, recognized from a VH1 “Behind the Music” special. At the school where the cop’s grandkids attend, children ask for autographs.

Just last week, Hoobler bought his first Lil Wayne album and he has been listening to it on a boom box in his police cruiser after work.

“Now that I finally got a hold of his new CD, and see that it really turned out good, I hope he makes more of them,” he said.
