After the jump, you can watch Weezy speak on why his MTV Unplugged performance is solo and why he covered 2Pac’s “Hail Mary” verse.

“If you ever go to a Lil Wayne show, you’ll see he, as in I, don’t bring nobody onstage unless they are Young Money,” Weezy told MTV News’ Sway Calloway after the taping of “MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged,” which will air on MTV2, MTV and MTV.com on Sunday.

“If they are not Young Money and they are just an artist that I’ve done a song with and they’re in the town that night and they ask, ‘Can I come out?’ Say, ‘Yeah,’ ” he said. “But if you go to a Lil Wayne show and you’re a real Lil Wayne fan, you’ll know: He’s up there from start to finish by his self.”

“Ain’t have nobody screamin’ over the mic with me. I just never been about that because I was always in a group with three other guys when I was comin’ up,” Tunechi said.

For all of the reasons he gives, in the end, Wayne is just a little bit selfish, and after releasing eight solo albums, nine official mixtapes and selling more than 10 million copies, who can blame him? “I also don’t bring a lot of people up there because, simple and plain, this is ‘MTV Unplugged,’ and this is Lil Wayne’s ‘MTV Unplugged,’ ” he said.

“I knew because this is my ‘Unplugged,’ I said, ‘I want to do some kind of tribute to one of those great artists,’ ” Wayne explained to us of why he chose to perform the fallen MC’s 1996 single “Hail Mary.” “It’s just something about ‘Pac and I,” he said after the show’s taping last month.

“I picked that second verse, ‘Penitentiaries is packed with promise makers,’ and I was like, ‘That whole verse is just perfect — they never realized the precious time that they wasting.’ “

Last night (March 16), Lil Wayne returned back to the stage as a headliner for the first time in over a year as he performed at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Other music artists who performed at the show were: Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Travis Barker, Porcelain Black, Birdman, Cory Gunz, Mack Maine, Lil Twist, Shanell, and Jae Millz. Rolling Stone Magazine‘s latest issue featuring Lil Wayne on the cover is available at most newsstands today (January 21), and we have got scans from the mag for you Waynaics! This is the first interview and cover Weezy has done since being released from Rikers Island in November, 2010.

Some of the things mentioned in this article are: Wayne is preparing Tha Carter IV for an April release, wanted to keep Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” for C4, vows to never set foot on a New York stage again, and he is currently recording feature verses for Bruno Mars, Young Jeezy and Kelly Rowland.

Many BET Awards viewers were outraged when Lil Wayne and Drake were joined on stage by several pre-teen girls during the performance of their hit song “Every Girl“.

Some journalists found the presence of the pre-teens to be a bit strange.

Overall, the show was a big downer because… many things just seemed out of place. For example, Drake‘s performance had Lil Wayne and his pre-teen daughter with other young girls on stage rapping along to “Every Girl in the World,” which is a song about having escapades with all the girls in the world. Others thought Weezy‘s song choice was inappropriate in light of Michael Jackson’s recent death.

And then came Lil Wayne, in a five minute flurry of such bad taste and poor judgment one can only assume that he was high or simply confused. He performed his new single “Every Girl“. In light of the somber tone of the evening, the performance would have been gauche enough. But onstage with him at the time were several pre-teen girls, who danced in loose choreography and flocked around Lil Wayne like a prepubescent harem. (City Pages)
