With the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show announcement choosing Kendrick Lamar to perform over Lil Wayne in his hometown of New Orleans a few months ago, many artists and personalities stepped up to show their love for Wayne.
In September, 2024, the NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation revealed K Dot would headline the halftime show, despite Weezy‘s publicly expressed wish to perform in the 2025 event and what it would mean to represent NOLA on such a platform.
After the news broke, Tunechi took to social media to share his disappointment: “That hurt, it hurt a lot… I thought there was nothing better than that spot, on that stage, on that platform, in my city. It broke me, and I’m just trying to put me back together.”
Since then, a long list of stars have backed Tune, including Bhad Bhabie, Birdman, Cam’ron, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Chuck D, DDG, Drake, G Herbo, Hurricane Chris, Jermaine Dupri, Joyner Lucas, Juvenile, LL Cool J, Mase, Master P, Monaleo, Nicki Minaj, Odell Beckham Jr., OT Genasis, Rich The Kid, Shannon Sharpe, and Travis Scott.
Therefore, check out all the shout outs to Mr. Carter below. In related news, Skip Bayless previously mentioned that the NFL sent Lil Wayne a letter of apology over this and that Wayne will be watching the Big Game today (February 9th), but he will not be watching the Halftime Show!
