In a recent interview with NOLA, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez revealed that Lil Wayne was considered for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans.
“I didn’t choose the artist, but I do believe that definitely there was consideration [for Wayne].”
However, the selection committee—led by Jay-Z—chose Kendrick Lamar instead. They felt Kendrick was “the right person for the show at this moment” over Weezy.
This decision has sparked debates among everyone, especially considering Tunechi‘s deep NOLA roots and love for the sport. He has publicly expressed disappointment, addressing it on social media (see below) and at his 2024 Lil Weezyana Fest.
When asked if she had seen any of Tune‘s reaction, Perez responded:
“Aww, I actually didn’t know he had said that.”
Mr. Carter previously told Skip Bayless that he won’t be watching the 2025 Super Bowl on February 9th because he’ll be out of the country!
