Lil Wayne‘s “The Days” featuring U2’s Bono served as the official NBA Finals promo theme song for the first day of the championship series.
The track aired during ESPN’s coverage of Game 1 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers on June 5th. This was also the night before Tha Carter VI dropped.
If you didn’t already know, “The Days” was kept in the vault for over 10 years before finally appearing on C6.
In a statement, Weezy F Baby said:
“Basketball’s been in my blood since day one. So, to team up with ESPN less than 24 hours before the drop of Tha Carter VI for the NBA Finals is an incredible honor. My music and the NBA are vibin’ on the same frequency. It’s perfect timing for fans to hear Tha Carter VI on the game’s grandest stage.”
