Kevin Gates joins Shannon Sharpe for an episode of his “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
During their conversation, Kevin talked about first meeting Lil Wayne around 15 years ago and why he never ended up signing to Young Money or Cash Money Records.
The Louisiana rapper says the deal was just not in “alignment” for him at that current time, but he does have a “great relationship” with both Weezy and Birdman.
“I don’t think it was in alignment for me. It might have not been in the cards for me. I believe in allowing things to happen how they’re supposed to happen. Like me and Birdman, we still got a great relationship. Me and Wayne got a great relationship. We do, there’s no static or no smoke there but it just wasn’t in alignment for me at that time. And then I probably wouldn’t be who I am if that situation would’ve happened.”
