Lil Wayne Headed ‘Straight To The Studio’ After Leaving Prison, Says Birdman

Lil Wayne Headed Straight To The Studio After Leaving Prison Says Birdman

Birdman tells Music Mix that after chilling and partying with his family, Lil Wayne will go straight to the studio when he is released from Rikers Island in four days. Baby also says that Weezy will be working on his Tha Carter IV album (hopefully Dedication 4 too), and we should be looking for Like Father, Like Son Part 2 to drop on Father’s Day weekend.

“Me knowing Wayne, he’s going into the studio,” Cash Money label head Baby (a.k.a. Birdman) tells the Music Mix. “He hasn’t been able to rap for months. I think after seeing the family, popping a few bottles, it’s back to basics. Family first, that’s what we believe in, that’s what we’re loyal to. After that, I think the same day he comes home, he’s going to go straight to the studio.”

Wayne’s first priority when he enters the booth for the first time since March will be working on his long-promised project Tha Carter IV. Baby expects that album to arrive in the first quarter of 2011, though no release plans have been finalized.

Baby is also looking forward to working with Wayne on a sequel to Like Father, Like Son, the collaborative album that the mentor and protégé released in 2006. “We’re planning on putting that out Father’s Day weekend,” he says. So what should fans expect to hear next June? “Just me and Wayne being us, the father-son thing. We’re bringing that Cash Money/Young Money sound, that traditional hard-body rap, the music that we do together — that gangsta shit, straight up.”

Birdman Talks Lil Wayne’s Return, Dipset Reunion & Young Money

Birdman Talks Lil Waynes Return, Dipset Reunion & Young Money

Baby has taken charge of Young Money, helping them keep their stronghold on the rap music game until Weezy returns from temporary leave. The Cash Money general has plenty of experience running a family business but he says Wayne’s absence has left a void felt by the whole crew.

“It’s a big difference now without Lil Wayne but we doing what we gotta do. He’ll be home in a minute,” Baby told VIBE Saturday (May 1). “You can’t ever replace him. We do as much as we can without him and we just waiting for him to come home.”

Baby was spotted at New Jersey’s Bamboozle Music Festival over the weekend supporting Drake who performed for screaming fans. He says the Toronto native’s debut Thank Me Later, scheduled for June 15, will not disappoint.

“You always gotta say big things are coming from Young Money,” Birdman said from the festival. “All our releases this year – I think Drake‘s album is one of the biggest excitements of the year. I think Nicki Minaj‘s album is a big excitement of the year.”

Despite the moves Young Mula is making for music domination, Baby says there’s room for other crews to be successful too.

“You know, Dipset came up the same time as us. Cam, Jimmy, that’s my family,” Baby says about Jim Jones and Cam’ron’s recent reunion. “For them to be together, that’s what it do, that’s what’s up. We making music and unity and that’s what I’m about.”

Baby is also all about Weezy and the day they can stunt together again.

“I would probably be one of the happiest men on Earth the day that my son comes home,” Baby says. “That’s the biggest excitement for all of us as Young Money/Cash Money and as our families is the day Wayne come home.”

Lil Wayne & Shanell Deny Baby Rumors

Lil Wayne & Shanell Deny Baby Rumors

Lil Wayne may have an impending jail sentence, but in recent days some news about the MC has set the Internet chatter ablaze: Does he have another baby on the way?

Now, as she preps her as-yet-untitled debut album, Shanell said the rumors about whether she’s dating Lil Wayne have run rampant but have no basis in reality.

“Basically it came from a corny rumor that escalated,” Shanell told MTV News. “First I was dating him, then I was his girlfriend, then we were getting married, then we were settling down and now I’m pregnant. It’s so foolish we’ve haven’t paid it any attention.”

So what of the widely circulated photo where the two are hugging?

“We’re taking a picture,” she said.

The singer-songwriter says that the dating rumors were fine, but the pregnancy chatter was not.

“All the rest of the rumors were kinda funny except that one,” she admitted. “When my mother called me like, ‘Um?,’ [I was] like, ‘No! Are you serious?’ I don’t care about the rumors, but I just want people to know that I’m not pregnant. I’ve got an album coming out, I’m a dancer, I’m in shape and children are not anywhere in my future.”

Lil Wayne agrees.

“Let me clear up this rumor, man: Shanell is not pregnant from me,” Wayne said in a serious tone on a Ustream video last weekend. “Shanell isn’t even pregnant! Period. Clear that up right now, man. Everybody talking about Shanell pregnant by … No, she not even pregnant. Period.”

Lil Wayne may not be the father this go round, but he saw the birth of three sons — from an unnamed Ohio native, singer Nivea Nash and actress Lauren London — between 2008 and 2009 alone. His first child’s name is Reginae Carter, from his marriage to Toya Carter.

Birdman Says “I’m Losing My Son To Jail”

Rap mogul Bryan ‘Baby‘ Williams is dreading his hitmaking protegé Lil Wayne‘s upcoming jail time – because he can’t imagine life not speaking to the superstar when he wants to.

Williams discovered the rapper, who he considers his son, and admits Wayne‘s 12-month jail spell on weapons charges will be tough on him.

He has pledged to visit his protege at New York’s notorious Rikers Island prison weekly – and hopes that will be enough to keep both men upbeat.

He says, “I’ve been with him forever. It will be the first time in my life I’ll not be reachable to him.”

“We work together, we’re on the road together. We’re always together. I try not to even think about it… I’m losing something in my soul.”

And he’s not the only one worrying about the next 12 months while Lil Wayne is locked up – his Cash Money label artist Drake admits the prison sentence will hit home when the rapper is sentenced next week (08-Feb-10).

He tells Complex magazine, “We don’t really talk about it. It’s surreal to me still. I guess on the day that it really happens, I’ll start thinking about what I gotta do.”

“I wanna have a talk with Wayne and ask him what he needs from me.”

Cash Money Records Reportedly Expands Into Natural Gases & Oil Industry

Cash Money Records Reportedly Expands Into Natural Gases & Oil Industry

Cash Money Records founders Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams have reportedly expanded their empire by launching their own independent gasoline and oil company.

According to reports, the duo’s business is called Bronald Oil & Gas.

Bronald Oil & Gas are using several locations to develop oil and gas outlets, such as Osage County, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and unidentified Central America sites. The Williams brothers have issued a mission statement which lists key initiatives which they believe will be instrumental in developing oil and gas energy production in the 21st century: Forming strategic alliances with other operators to leverage their respective experience and strengths on development. Forming partnerships with service, equipment and technology companies. By partnering with such companies, some of our fields may be designated as “testing ground” for new and developing technologies.

According to the company’s website, there is also an international aim to expand the business.

These efforts have initially been focused on Central America, while Bronald intends to also carefully review other international opportunities in such places as Africa. Once again, Bronald intends to leverage its network of existing relationships to identify and secure development opportunities.

Earlier this month, Birdman spoke on Cash Money‘s ability to connect with younger generations.

“We believe in giving a youngster an opportunity to [express] what their vision is,” Baby said in an interview. “To corporate, you’re just an artist in a box. But when you f*ck with us, you inherit a family. Corporate will never be able to f*ck with us, because we’re in touch with the young world…I want to do more in the business than anyone ever did. I feel like people died for our success…Nobody else deserves this.”

He also spoke on branching out Cash Money‘s image by linking with artists like Kevin Rudolph.

“We’ve been trying to expand into rock for a long time,” Baby said in an interview. “It just never cracked. We didn’t have the system to pull it off. But with Kevin, Republic gave him a great window to do what he wanted to do. The new music is hot. We are going into all types of music from Kevin and Drake to Jay Sean. I believe in the music.”
