Lil Wayne Talks Drugs, Love, Family, Cash Money, Fans & More In Unreleased Vibe Interview

Benjamin M. Ingram recently posted an interview he did with Lil Wayne back in early 2008 on the new Myspace to celebrate Tha Carter III reaching it’s fifth anniversary. This interview was done for Vibe magazine, but for some reason it was never published.

During the interview, Weezy F Baby spoke about his health, his creative process, planning to retire at 35, being in love, drugs, his family, why he works as hard as he does, playing the guitar, his relationship with Mannie Fresh, Tha Carter III, what motivates him, Cash Money Records, what he would be doing if he was not in the music industry, fans, legacy, if he would rather be Jay-Z or 50 Cent, and plenty more.

You can read the full interview after the jump below. It is a great read for any Tune fan!

Video: Lil Wayne’s Public Service Announcement

This 30 minute video is a must watch for everyone! Lil Wayne gets deep and personal talking about Steve Jobs’ death, why he drank syrup, why he tattooed his whole body, why he bought a Bugatti, why he learned how to play a guitar and put out a rock album, and why he learned how to skateboard. Tune also shows us a little bit of his mansion, starts to skateboard on his roof, and tells us about how he was considered a “Chief Blood” in Rikers Island.

I think we can all agree that this is rare from Weezy and we don’t normally get anything like this from him, but hopefully Wayne will carry on releasing these vlogs for us.

Props DG

Video: Lil Wayne Says New Single “How To Love” Gives Him Goose Bumps x More

Above, Lil Wayne speaks about his new single “How To Love” with Sway when the two sat down after the taping of Weezy‘s upcoming Unplugged special.

“I can tell you that I’ve never had a single like it, and it’s an amazing song. It’s an amazing song. When I listen to it I get goose bumps,” Weezy said. “And I feel like the song is gonna take me somewhere that I’ve never been musically.”

Tunechi, who recently extended his I Am Still Music Tour through September, is looking to diversify his live show, and “How to Love” would help him do that. “You know that if you come to a Lil Wayne show two years from now, you already know that ‘I’m gonna get rap — some of the best rap — I’m gonna get some guitar, I’m gonna get some singin’, I’m gonna get some dancin’, I’m gonna get some old-school music, and I’m goin’ to a show tonight.’ And I think that’s where this song is directing me to.”

For Birdman Jr., rap just isn’t enough anymore. “I am a musician, and a few years back, I noticed that I wasn’t just a rapper. And I noticed that I didn’t want to do this just to rap,” he said before clarifying his point. “I do want to go down as one of the greatest rappers of all time, but I also want to go down as one of the greatest musicians of all time.

“When you think about it, Tupac is just known as a great rapper; Biggie is just known as a great rapper, Jay-Z — just known as a great rapper,” he continued. “I want to be known as that rapper that turned it all the way up and became the face of the music.”

Actually, Wayne looks to epitomize the word one day. “When they make a billboard and put whoever they gonna put up there to define the word ‘music,’ I wanna be there.” – MTV

After the jump, you can watch videos of Detail speak on producing “How To Love” (says Weezy recorded the song in November 2010), Rick Ross chat about his great relationship with Lil Wayne and the John” single, and Birdman talk about Tune‘s Tha Carter IV album (says he thinks it will be one of the best albums in history).

Robert Hoobler Speaks On Lil Wayne Going To Jail x Weezy Goes Bowling x More

Robert Hoobler Speaks On Lil Wayne Going To Jail

No one is more disappointed that Lil Wayne is jailed on gun charges than the cop who saved the rapper’s life 15 years ago after an accidental shot to the chest.

“It’s sad to see somebody get involved with guns like that – any kid, no matter who they are,” said Robert Hoobler, a New Orleans Police Department cop for two decades.

“I’m sorry to see that happened to him, but at least he admitted to what happened and took his medicine,” said Hoobler, 53, who now works for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Hoobler is more of an AC/DC and Metallica fan, but he has genuine affection for Lil Wayne.

They crossed paths in 1994 when Lil Wayne was a seventh grader living in New Orleans’ rough Hollygrove neighborhood. A call came in for shots fired, and Hoobler and other cops rushed to the address.

“We heard loud music the first time, but nothing the second time – just a little voice moaning for help,” Hoobler said.

The cops kicked in the door and found Lil Wayne covered in blood. He had dragged himself from the bedroom to the front of the apartment, leaving a bloody trail.

There were no ambulances immediately available, so Hoobler cradled Lil Wayne in his arms as they raced in a police cruiser to the nearest hospital.

That saved the rapper’s life, doctors said.

Lil Wayne has acknowledged Hoobler‘s heroics in person and in the press and he’s become a a bit of a local celebrity, recognized from a VH1 “Behind the Music” special. At the school where the cop’s grandkids attend, children ask for autographs.

Just last week, Hoobler bought his first Lil Wayne album and he has been listening to it on a boom box in his police cruiser after work.

“Now that I finally got a hold of his new CD, and see that it really turned out good, I hope he makes more of them,” he said.

Via NYDailyNews, and it’s cool to see the cop who saved Wayne‘s life is liking the Rebirth album.

Hit the jump to watch Lil Wayne and Lil Twist go bowling on Wayne‘s last day of freedom before heading to jail, another The Carter Documentary preview (some unreleased scenes), and the producer of “Pop Bottles” venting on Birdman and Lil Wayne.
