Kevin Gates Praises Lil Wayne & Talks Nearly Signing To Young Money

Kevin Gates was a recent guest on the “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” show were he chopped it up with Big Boy about Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, an Elvis Presley tattoo, investing in coffee and a blueberry farm, and much more.

At the 4:30 mark of their conversation, which you can watch below, Kevin played a game of “Forreal Forreal Forfalse Forfalse” and was asked if it was true or false that Weezy wanted to sign him to Young Money back in the day, but he passed on the deal.

The Louisiana rapper confirmed that this story was indeed true by saying “it was supposed to happen but nothing ever materialized”, as well as added: “shout out to Wayne bro, I love dude” and “for him to recognize talent to me I’m grateful for that”! Would you have liked to see Gates on YM?

From the 11:40 mark of their conversation, Anuel recalls watching and learning from Lil Wayne as the best artist in the world to try and be the best artist himself that raps in Spanish. Even though Tunechi was huge in Puerto Rico, AA wanted to replicate everything Tune did but in Spanish.

The Puerto Rican music artist also reflects on Weezy being the number one rapper in the world, putting on the likes of Drake and Nicki Minaj, and taking inspiration from the Young Money CEO: “He was the number one in the world, nobody can tell me nothing else. From 8:50 mark of their conversation, Chris talked about the Lil Wayne and Yung Bleu collab “Possessive” on his upcoming Breezy album, due to be released this Friday (June 24th).

While talking to Big Boy about the feature, CB mentioned he has a “natural genuine relationship” with Wayne and he believes the Young Money CEO is “very talented”. He also added the following statement:

“Lil Wayne gave me probably one of the hardest verses… I couldn’t put the Breezy album out without him on.”

Weezy‘s daughter Reginae Carter also took to Twitter to write the following message after seeing the Thug interview: “If you’re a rapper and you think my father doesn’t like you … that’s not the case always. He probably really just don’t know you. Lol or don’t care to get to know you, no beefs. He really just be on his shit and only that. No clout chasing cause that’s not apart of his job.”
