Lil Wayne To Headline Coachella Day One 22 On New Year’s Eve

Lil Wayne To Headline Coachella Day One 22 On New Years Eve

Lil Wayne has been announced as a headliner for Coachella Day One 22 at Coachella Crossroads (near Spotlight 29 Casino) in California on New Year’s Eve (Friday, December 31st).

As well as Weezy, there will also be a live performance from E-40 and a DJ set from Shaquille O’Neal aka Diesel. The promoters of the main Coachella music festival are also currently suing this concert, so it’s possible that the show may have to change its name?

Throwback Thursday: Lil Wayne Goes In On The Empire Mixtape DJ For Leaking His Music

Lil Wayne Goes In On The Empire Mixtape DJ For Leaking His Music

As it is #ThrowbackThursday today, here is a rare Lil Wayne interview on the radio with DJ Drama and David Banner from back in 2008.

Wayne made the phone call in to clear up comments he made in a magazine that looked like he was disrespecting all mixtape DJs, but it was just The Empire who he had a problem with as Empire was the one who was leaking a lot of Weezy‘s music on unofficial tapes.

“First off I ain’t mean to disrespect no deejays, no mixtape deejays, whatever kind of deejay you is, there was no kind of disrespect, especially given the fact that me and Drama, me and Khaled, and me and my homeboy Raj Smooth from New Orleans, we all get it in and do the mixtape thing. So given that fact, I think things were blew out of proportion.”

“But what I do wanna say is whoever got soft feelings or whoever took what I said and wants to feel some kind of way, I want you to know, please do not feel differently after you hear me on this radio, I want you to still feel like ‘f*ck me’, I want you to still feel like: ‘f*ck that n*gga’, cause when you see me in the streets I want it to be that, because I’m going to bite your f*cking face off.”

“This Empire n*gga, I don’t f*ck with him. For all deejays I just want you to know that, that diss was meant for that Empire n*gga. I don’t f*ck the Empire n*gga. The n*gga put a CD out on me every month and I couldn’t tell you how none of them n*ggas look in person… if you made the ‘Wayne’s World Volume 1 to 7’, ya mama’s a b*tch and if you The Empire, n*gga I hope you die twice tomorrow.”

Also in their conversation, which you can check out below, Tunechi spoke on the unofficial Wayne’s World mixtape series, his Tha Carter III album, if he is down with a Hot Boys reunion, and for Drama to send him beats for the Dedication 3 mixtape! Have you heard this convo before?

Fee Banks Talks Sqad Up, His Role With Lil Wayne, People Comparing Lil Baby To Wayne & More [Video]

Fee Banks Talks Sqad Up, His Role With Lil Wayne, People Comparing Lil Baby To Wayne & More

At the end of 2020, Fee Banks sat down with Jahze TV for a one on one interview for season 2 episode 2 of her “Mixed Company: New Orleans edition” series that you can watch below.

During their conversation, Fee discussed how the rap group Sqad Up came together from all being neighborhood homeboys, what his role with Lil Wayne was at that time, being Wayne‘s DJ for a short period, looking up to Birdman and Master P, and shared his thoughts on people calling Lil Baby the new Weezy.

The day one friend of Tunechi also spoke on being cousins with Toya Johnson, what he learned from helping to create Young Money which helped him create his own management company Good Money Global that has managed artists such as Kevin Gates and NBA YoungBoy, his passion for cars and his YM Motors business, New Orleans, building a compound, and much more!

Lil Wayne Wanted To Stop The Release Of Da Drought 3 To Change The “My Flow Is Nasty Like C-Y-Philis” Lyric Because Of A Spelling Mistake [Video]

Lil Wayne Wanted To Stop The Release Of Da Drought 3 To Change The My Flow Is Nasty Like C-Y-Philis Lyric Because Of A Spelling Mistake

First thing’s first with this interview, all of the blogs are currently reporting that Lil Wayne‘s “Weezy F Baby and the F is for Fenomenal” lyric was a mistake and he wanted to change it when he found out he had spelled the word “Phenomenal” wrong. I fully believe this is wrong. Even though Cortez Bryant says this was the lyric, you can tell he was not fully sure.

When you work out what else Tez says about the bar, such as Tunechi wanting to stop the release when he found out how to spell the word correctly and that it was too late as it had already been put out – “Yes” with Pharrell was actually a leak and has never been officially released. Also the next line after the “Phenomenal” one uses wordplay on “typo” to show Tune knows exactly what he did.

While they had just been speaking about the Da Drought 3 project, I think we can all fairly agree that the lyric Cortez was thinking about was “My flow is nasty like c-y-philis” off the “Ride For My Niggas” aka “Sky Is The Limit” song. If you didn’t know, “cyphilis” is actually spelled like “syphilis“.

Anyway, in this conversation with Andrew Barber that you can watch in full below, Bryant also discusses Tha Carter III Sessions, Wayne‘s mixtape run, how he plans to add the rest of Wayne‘s tapes to streaming platforms, how it has been managing Wayne‘s career (including being a DJ for him), Tha Carter album series, noticing the first commercial shift was the feature on Destiny Child’s “Soldier” single, Wayne becoming a “God” in New Orleans after the Sqad Up tapes, releasing The Leak EP to give Wayne more time to record a whole ‘nother C3 album, and much more.

Another conflicting issue with this interview is the “I Feel Like Dying” convo. Tez calls it his one of his favorite Weezy songs, but reveals they could never drop it officially or perform it as concerts, because they could never get the sample cleared and says they even received an injunction over it. However, the publishers of the song that was sampled (“Once” by Karma) have said on Twitter that this information is incorrect and they would love to clear the track and see it released. So… who is lying?
