Kobe Bryant Reveals Why Lil Wayne Created A Tribute Song For Him

Last month, Kobe Bryant made an appearance on Barstool’s “The Corp” podcast to chop it up with Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez and Dan “Big Cat” Katz.

During their conversation, the former professional basketball player was asked how often does he listen to the “Kobe Bryant” song that Lil Wayne created for him back in 2009.

While answering the question, Kobe also revealed how the Weezy track came together after the 2009 Western Conference Finals where Bryant‘s Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets in six games:

“It was after the Denver series, [Wayne] called me. He was like: ‘Man, that performance just motivated the hell out of me.’ I think it was like game six. He was like: ‘I’mma do a song. Is it okay, can I do a song?’ I was like: ‘alright, cool.’ Man I just thought he was just BS-ing or whatever. Before the Celtics series he sends me the song and I was like: ‘Oh, you were serious.’ Okay, that’s awesome.”

LeBron James recently took to social media to show himself listening to Lil Wayne‘s Da Drought 3 mixtape in his car.

In the clip, which you can check out below, the professional NBA player can be seen bumping Weezy‘s “Get High, Screw The World” song and rapping along to it.

This is not the first time that Bron has done this, because in 2018 he was spotted jamming out to Tunechi and Kendrick Lamar‘s “Mona Lisa” collaboration, as well as playing old Tune songs while getting tipsy off wine!

Earlier this week on December 4th, Meek Mill paid a visit to ESPN’s “First Take” sports television show to promote his new album, Championships.

During his appearance, Stephen A. Smith made a top 5 list of rappers that he thinks makes the biggest impact among NBA players in the locker room. This list included JAY Z, Drake, Migos, The Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac Shakur.

When Stephen sat down, Meek mentioned that Lil Wayne should of been on this list before Max Kellerman then said the same. Mill also revealed that Wayne is in his top 3 of all time list. You can check out what went down in the video after the jump below!

Lil Wayne Sits Down With Current & Former Athletes To Interview Them About Numerous Topics

Back in May, I shared some footage of Lil Wayne being a correspondent for The Players’ Tribune, which took place during 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend earlier this year.

The Players’ Tribune have now released an official video of Wayne sitting down with NFL running back Alvin Kamara, WNBA athlete Essence Carson, and former NBA players Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington to interview them.

Some of the questions that Weezy asked included how Carson walks around New Orleans with no security, how Essence plans revenge, what Jackson and Harrington are up to nowadays, and more.

Iman Shumpert Rates The Bars From Lil Wayne Off, Off, Off

Iman Shumpert recently appeared on BET’s “Rate The Bars: NBA Edition” series to rate lyrics from artists such as Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Machine Gun Kelly, Nicki Minaj, Lloyd Banks, Kobe Bryant, Lil B, and Lou Williams.

During the clip, which you can check out below, Iman rated the following lyrics from Lil Wayne‘s “Off, Off Off” song 5 out of 5 before then calling his beat selection and delivery “so crazy”:

“Tatted up like J.R Smith; What was that sound? That was swish; Shout out to Shumpert and Tris’; They got the rebounds and defense”

The professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings also added that Tunechi is a good guy and a lot of music artists try and make that “soundtrack to a game” vibe, but Tune is one of the artists who is really great at it!

Behind The Scenes Footage Of John Wall & Lil Wayne Video Shoot

2 months ago, we saw a clip of Lil Wayne and John Wall shooting videos for “30 Minutes To New Orleans“, “3 Peat” and “6 Foot, 7 Foot” at the private TRUKSTOP skate park in Miami, Florida.

It turns out that Tunechi and the Washington Wizards player were interviewing each other about hip-hop and NBA, which we will be seeing soon with Bleacher Report. Tune even jokingly said Wall has retired from basketball and is now signed to Young Money as a rapper!
