Video: Lil Wayne’s Public Service Announcement

This 30 minute video is a must watch for everyone! Lil Wayne gets deep and personal talking about Steve Jobs’ death, why he drank syrup, why he tattooed his whole body, why he bought a Bugatti, why he learned how to play a guitar and put out a rock album, and why he learned how to skateboard. Tune also shows us a little bit of his mansion, starts to skateboard on his roof, and tells us about how he was considered a “Chief Blood” in Rikers Island.

I think we can all agree that this is rare from Weezy and we don’t normally get anything like this from him, but hopefully Wayne will carry on releasing these vlogs for us.

Props DG

Lil Wayne’s Rebirth Album Certified Gold!!!

Lil Waynes Rebirth Album Certified Gold

Cash Money/Universal Motown multi-platinum recording artist Lil Wayne‘s seventh studio album, Rebirth, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The album is picking up considerable momentum, approaching platinum status by the RIAA measurement. Rebirth hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Album chart and reached No. 4 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. The singles “Drop the World,” featuring Eminem, and “Knock Out,” featuring Nicki Minaj, are rising on the charts.

On Rebirth, Lil Wayne extends his range, drawing from rock, reggae, and new wave influences, intermeshed with his savvy lyricism and distinctive, quick-witted delivery. Lil Wayne received eight Grammy nominations for his multi-platinum 2008 CD, Tha Carter III, which shattered records by selling over one million copies in its first week of release. With Rebirth, Lil Wayne closes a chapter on outstanding decade of repeated successes and starts fresh with renewed drive.

With the release of 2010’s Rebirth, Lil Wayne challenges himself by taking his music to the next plateau. “I have evolved both lyrically and musically as an artist and I want everyone to hear my growing pains,” says the celebrated MC, who is currently serving a one year sentence on Rikers Island in New York City. “This is probably my best work yet.”

Via NewsBlaze, and this is really good for an album that leaked way before it’s release date. We can also be looking out for the next single, “Knockout” and a music video for that record, and the music videos for “Da Da Da”, “Get A Life”, and “Runnin'”.

Soulja Boy Speaks On Lil Wayne Beef Rumors x Is Weezy Leaving Twitter Already? x More

In the video above, Soulja Boy speaks on the beef rumors going around about him and Lil Wayne. Soulja says it’s total bullcrap and if you remember, Weezy was shouting him out on uStream a couple of weeks ago.

In other news, after Weezy created a Twitter account three days ago, it looks like he may be quitting the social network! You can check out Wayne‘s latest tweet below, and what did y’all think of his tweets anyway? Did you think they were lyrics from some of his songs etc? I actually thought some tweets were quite confusing and hard to understand… leave a comment below with your thoughts on Tunechi‘s tweets.

Lil Wayne’s Rebirth Album First Week Sales

Lil Waynes Rebirth Album First Week Sales

Despite an early leak, Lil Wayne still managed to rock the charts with his latest album, but he couldn’t top a country act.

The Cash Money rapper’s oft-delayed Rebirth debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 176,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. He placed second to Nashville stars Lady Antebellum and their sophomore effort Need You Now, which holds onto the No. 1 spot for a second week with 209,000.

Rebirth marks the seventh top 10 album for Weezy, who has a little more time to record his next album Tha Carter IV now that his sentencing has been adjourned to March 2 due to dental surgery.

Wayne’s last album, Tha Carter III, was the best-selling album of 2008, moving over 1 million copies in its first week. Rebirth suffered from numerous delays and was prematurely shipped to Amazon.com customers in December, causing it to surface online more than a month in advance of its street date.

What are your thoughts on this? Obviously this is no Tha Carter III first weeks sales, but you have got to take into account that the album did leak when it shouldn’t and maybe it didn’t get the promotion it should have. I have also seen lots and lots of bad reviews of Rebirth all over the internet, but one thing people need to remember is that this was just an ‘experimental’ album. Lil Wayne is also shooting music videos for “Drop The World“, “Knockout“, “Get A Life“, “Da Da Da” (maybe “Die For You“), so these should help with the album sales too. Leave a comment with your views and if you expected better or worse etc.

Lil Wayne’s Full Billboard Interview; Speaks About Rebirth, Young Money & More

Lil Waynes Full Billboard Interview - Speaks About Rebirth, Young Money & More

We posted Lil Wayne on the front cover of Billboard Magazine along with a preview of their interview last week… Now we have the full Lil Wayne interview with Billboard were Weezy speaks about his upcoming rock album Rebirth, Young Money, features, being on tour, Hot Boys reunion, Tha Carter 4, and more:

Lil Wayne always keeps it moving. That’s the one absolute you learn about the rapper after talking with him.

When Billboard caught up with Lil Wayne — real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — it was a couple of days after he had finished a set of shows in London, Paris and Amsterdam — and a week before he pled guilty to attempted weapon possession for an incident that occurred in 2007. Having barnstormed his way through 68 stateside shows during his top-grossing I Am Music and America’s Most Wanted tours in 2008 and 2009, he deserved a few days off. Instead, the Miami-based rapper was busy completing his free “No Ceilings” mixtape — “A big thank you to fans for coming out and showing me love every single night” of the tours.

Several leaks from the Halloween release feature Wayne rapping over beats from Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” and Fabolous’ “Throw It in the Bag.” Slated for release just after the mixtape, on November 23, is the “Mr. Carter” EP, exclusive to Best Buy.

It’s all in anticipation of Wayne’s “Rebirth.” While his Universal Motown publicist didn’t respond to several requests for comment, another source at the label says that Wayne’s legal issues — the rapper faces a possible one-year sentence; his hearing takes place in February — will not impede the often-delayed album’s December 15 release. But one question looms: Can Lil Wayne keep it moving when it comes to maintaining his sales and touring success?
