Lil Wayne Reveals His Top 5 Rappers, Why He Made Best Rapper Alive, Working On Old School Hip-Hop Beats For His Next Project & More

Lil Wayne was the special guest on episode 1 of DJ Khaled‘s brand new podcast dubbed “The First One“, which premiered on Amazon Music.

During their 45-minute conversation, Weezy spoke on his very first rap group with B.G. called The B.G.z, going by the name Baby D, first meeting Birdman, his “Block Burner” song, being influenced by Missy Elliott in the Hot Boys days, and more.

Around the middle of the discussion, Tunechi revealed he has been sent 3 old-school hip-hop beats to spit over for his next project (presumably No Ceilings 3) and 2 of them are: “Ether” by Nas and “Takeover” by Jay Z. However, after a quick Google, Tune realized he already did a freestyle over “Ether” on SQ1.

Wayne also talked about his favorite verse, his top 5 rappers, his top 5 anthems, the “We Takin’ Over” verse, creating the “Best Rapper Alive” song off Tha Carter II album, his The Suffix mixtape that was hosted by Khaled, and confirmed there will be another album in Tha Carter series. We previously saw Lil Wayne announce his upcoming projects (a Tha Carter VI album and a No Ceilings 3 mixtape) during his interview with Michael Eaves for a UFC Live stream on ESPN on ABC, and now we can check out their full conversation.

Tunechi spoke on what it is like for him to know someone personally who is about to perform at one of the highest levels in sport and listen to his music beforehand. They are of course talking about mixed martial artist Daniel Cormier, who walks out to Tune‘s “Right Above It” featuring Drake.

“Tha Carter 6 coming soon, but I got No Ceilings coming first, No Ceilings 3”

The New York Times spent a day with Young Thug back in August and asked him in an interview that has just surfaced online if he has any beef with Lil Wayne, as well as if he had anything to do with the shooting at Wayne‘s tour bus in Atlanta 6 months ago.

Thugger says that he has better things to do than run around shooting at a bus, as well as confirmed once again that Tunechi is his idol and he grew up on YMCMB so why would he ever want any problems with Tune.
