Every song from Lil Wayne‘s latest album, Tha Carter V, except for the Intro message from Wayne‘s mother Jacida Carter called “I Love You Dwayne“, has debuted in the Billboard “Hot 100” chart.

This is an amazing achievement and it also means that Weezy has tied with his Young Money artist Drake for the most simultaneous “Hot 100” debuts in a single week with 22 each.

Kevin Gates Thanks Lil Wayne For Motivating Him [Video]

Kevin Gates Thanks Lil Wayne For Motivating Him

Kevin Gates recently sat down with Sway Calloway for an interview to promote his new project, Luca Brasi 3, which was released on the same day as Tha Carter V.

During their conversation, Gates reflected on the time that Lil Wayne threatened to stop him from signing to any other record label if he didn’t sign a deal with Young Money Entertainment.

You can watch the Louisiana rapper share the story of what happened when he sat down at a table with Weezy, Mack Maine and Fee Banks, who was his manager at the time, after the jump below.

Even though he mentioned that it was the “scariest moment” of his life and remembers Tunechi say things like: “I’mma eat you”, Kevin shouted out Tune for his negotiation tactics as it ended up motivating him.

The two of them must be cool with each other now, because Wayne has shouted out Kevin Gates on his “Bugatti” freestyle off Dedication 5 and even tweeted out a link to his “Perfect Imperfection” song, which is also one of my favorite tracks from Gates!

Lil Wayne’s “What About Me” Off Tha Carter V Was Initially Supposed To Feature Drake & Post Malone

Lil Wayne What About Me Off Tha Carter V Was Initially Supposed To Feature Drake & Post Malone

On the day that Tha Carter V was released, the manager of Post Malone hinted that the singer and rapper had submitted vocals for Lil Wayne‘s album at the last minute. However, when C5 dropped, Malone was nowhere to be heard on the project.

The co-writer of Wayne‘s “What About Me” song, Johnny Yukon, has come out in an interview with Rolling Stone to reveal Tunechi had told him via e-mail messages in 2015 that he originally wanted Drake to record a verse on the song.

Even though he is not sure what happened, Yukon mentioned that Weezy found out this week that Drizzy was not going to be on the song after all and so Tune‘s team decided to try and get another rapper, which was Post Malone.

Post did end up hitting up the studio and recording something for Tha Carter V last minute, but something went wrong with the delivery and so there wasn’t enough time to include his verse on the album. “What About Me” can still be found on C5, but it only features Sosamann! I wonder if the version with Malone will ever be released?
