Lil Wayne’s Rebirth Album Certified Gold!!!
Cash Money/Universal Motown multi-platinum recording artist Lil Wayne‘s seventh studio album, Rebirth, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The album is picking up considerable momentum, approaching platinum status by the RIAA measurement. Rebirth hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Album chart and reached No. 4 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart. The singles “Drop the World,” featuring Eminem, and “Knock Out,” featuring Nicki Minaj, are rising on the charts.
On Rebirth, Lil Wayne extends his range, drawing from rock, reggae, and new wave influences, intermeshed with his savvy lyricism and distinctive, quick-witted delivery. Lil Wayne received eight Grammy nominations for his multi-platinum 2008 CD, Tha Carter III, which shattered records by selling over one million copies in its first week of release. With Rebirth, Lil Wayne closes a chapter on outstanding decade of repeated successes and starts fresh with renewed drive.
With the release of 2010′s Rebirth, Lil Wayne challenges himself by taking his music to the next plateau. “I have evolved both lyrically and musically as an artist and I want everyone to hear my growing pains,” says the celebrated MC, who is currently serving a one year sentence on Rikers Island in New York City. “This is probably my best work yet.”
