Lil Wayne Surpasses 100 Million RIAA Units Across Albums, Singles & Features

Lil Wayne Surpasses 100 Million RIAA Units Across Albums, Singles & Features

According to Chart Data, Lil Wayne has officially surpassed 100 million units across his albums, singles and features as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

This amazing milestone and achievement now means Weezy joins other rappers who have also topped 100 million RIAA units, which includes Drake, Eminem, and Nicki Minaj.

Congratulations to Tunechi on making even more history! However, I must point out that Tune (or his team) have not updated his RIAA certifications in a good while, so I’m sure he has sold a lot more than 100 million.

Lil Wayne Talks “Tha Carter V”, Attempting Suicide, Retirement, Young Money & More In Billboard 2018 Fall Issue

Lil Wayne Talks Tha Carter V, Attempting Suicide, Retirement, Young Money & More In Billboard 2018 Fall Issue

Lil Wayne graces the front cover of Billboard‘s Fall issue, which will be available on newsstands September 15th.

For his cover story, Weezy spoke on a lot of things including Tha Carter V, his children, tweeting, 2 Chainz’ wedding, seizures, features, Nicki Minaj, suicide, retirement, greatness, Drake, and more.

One interesting part from the story is that they reveal the outro on Tunechi‘s C5 album will be about attempting suicide and it will sample British R&B singer Sampha’s “Indecision” song:

“When he was 12, Wayne came across a gun in his mother’s house and shot himself in the chest, just missing his heart. In the past, he has called this an accident. But on the new verse he plays, Wayne admits this was a suicide attempt, undertaken after his mother told him he would no longer be allowed to rap. The track, which samples British R&B singer Sampha’s brooding but hopeful 2013 song ‘Indecision’ and will be the album’s outro, was on the original album tracklist, but Wayne added new lyrics this summer, following the suicides of designer Kate Spade and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.’

Also during their conversation, we get confirmation that Young Money Entertainment now solely belongs to Tune, but their distribution deal with Republic Records remains in place. You can check out some excerpts from the interview and pics from the photo shoot below!

Birdman Guarantees We Will Get Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter V” Album In 2018

Birdman Guarantees We Will Get Lil Wayne Tha Carter V Album In 2018

In a recent sit-down interview with Rap-Up, Birdman discussed Lil Wayne‘s upcoming Tha Carter V album and Wayne‘s legacy by comparing him to Tupac Shakur.

While talking about C5, Baby revealed that he has heard a few songs off the album and confirmed it will definitely be released this year, but it’s on Weezy when exactly he wants it to drop.

“Without a doubt, we’ll get that [Tha Carter V] this year. That’s on Tunechi [an exact release date], whatever he want do, but I’m guaranteeing you gon’ get it this year. I’ve heard a few [of the songs off C5], but I think, he is the best ever to me. A lot of success come from under his umbrella. Just him being him and I think it’s gonna be the biggest album of 2018, one of them. Without a doubt. It’s gonna be well worth the wait.

“They only have one Wayne and you only have one Tupac. Tupac had 100 songs, before that we never knew of that shit. Wayne had 100 features. That shit just not normal, that’s just not normal in our business today. A nigga might not want to hear two features from your ass, let alone 100. Wayne had 100 No. 1s.”

You can watch the #1 Stunna speak on Tunechi‘s legacy and the forthcoming fifth installment of Tune‘s Tha Carter album series in a video below! Do you believe him?
