DJ Khaled Recalls How He First Connected With Lil Wayne While Working At Odyssey Records In New Orleans

DJ Khaled was the recent guest on the “Drink Champs” podcast were he sat down with both N.O.R.E. aka Noreaga and DJ EFN for an interview to promote his God Did album (watch below).

At the 44:50 mark of their conversation, Khaled was asked the usual Drink Champs question of “Lil Wayne or Drake?“. The record executive couldn’t pick just one of them as he loves them both and called both of them his brother. He even added that the history himself and Wayne have made so far is “unbelievable”.

Later on in their convo at the 1:15:50 mark, Khaled shared the story of how he first connected with Tunechi and Birdman while working at Odyssey Records store in New Orleans – were he also mentioned the albums from the Cash Money Records artists would sell out really quickly. The disc jockey pointed out that he was there when Baby signed Weezy to CMR too!

Mannie Fresh Expresses His Desire To Do One More Joint Album With Lil Wayne

While on Instagram Live recently, Mannie Fresh expressed his desire to do one more joint project with Lil Wayne before he retires from music.

Mannie told his viewers that him and Weezy need to make history one more time with no other producers involved, as well as that the collaboration album doesn’t even need to be full of songs – just 8 or 9 will do.

It is not only Tunechi who Mannie Fresh wants to do joint albums with, he also wouldn’t mind producing full projects with Nas, JAY-Z and Jay Electronica. I don’t know what the hold up is, but Fresh and Tune need to go ahead and drop that Tha Carter/Fresh Files!

Lil Wayne Is The First Artist In History To Debut Two Songs In The Hot 100 Top 5 At The Same Time

After Tha Carter V topped the Billboard 200 this week, Lil Wayne has become the first music artist in history to debut two songs simultaneously in the top 5 on Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart.

Just missing out to Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s “Girls Like You” at No. 1, Weezy‘s “Mona Lisa” featuring Kendrick Lamar debuts at No. 2 while his “Don’t Cry” track featuring XXXTentacion enters at No. 5.

The Young Money founder also joins his label-mate Drake as the only artists in history to debut four records in the top 10 on the “Hot 100” in a single week as “Uproar” debuted at No. 7 and “Let It Fly” featuring Travis Scott appeared at No. 10.

Tunechi is now tied with Eminem for male artists with the most “Hot 100” top 10 debuts as they both have 11 each and are 1 behind Drizzy, who is in the first place with 12. He has also surpassed JAY Z for the second most “Hot 100” top 10s among rappers with 24. Congratulations to Tune on all these achievements!
