This Sunday (April 5th) at 10PM EST on TV One, an all-new episode of their award-winning documentary series “Unsung” on R&B star Betty Wright will be airing.

In a sneak peek of this episode, Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled can be seen reminiscing on Betty‘s hit back in 1974 called “Tonight Is The Night“.

“There’s eras of the song in my life, the first is being in the backseat of a car. Your mom’s singing it and you’re singing it right along with her. The second era is you’re riding in that car alone and now you finding those words meaning something totally different than what they meant when you were sitting in that backseat.”

You can watch a preview of Wayne recalling when he first realized the lyrics on this Wright song meant something different after originally singing the record with his mom in the car below!

Cortez Bryant Reveals Lil Wayne Has A Scripted TV Series Based On His Gone Til November Book

We first heard about this last year, and now footage has surfaced online of Cortez Bryant and Matt Ferrigno teasing an upcoming Lil Wayne show that could possibly premiere on Netflix.

While talking at Midem 2019 in France, which you can watch below, Ferrigno discussed how platforms like Netflix are “dying to get more hip-hop content” and this would be a good thing for Tunechi to share his story on.

Tez then shushed Matt up and said it is coming within a year (so it should be this year as the interview was done in 2019). He also revealed the show would be a scripted television series based on the “Gone ‘Til November” journal that Weezy wrote while locked up in Rikers Island back in 2010.

Lil Wayne To Release A TV Series Possibly On Netflix & A Fashion Line With American Eagle

Cortez Bryant was a speaker at Midem 2019, which took place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France on June 4th, to debate about the music industry’s growth with streaming and how rap artists can work with brands.

During his appearance at this year’s Midem event, Tez Poe and Matt Ferrigno of MTW Agency both discussed working with megastars like Lil Wayne:

“15 years ago I was just Lil Wayne’s best friend, talking to these guys in suits… a challenge! But for one of my first deals, with AT&T, I got them to call their grandchildren and ask if they knew Wayne; the kids hollered, and we got the check!” – Cortez Bryant

“The biggest deal we did was with Lil Wayne and Samsung; it enabled us to surpass iPhone for the duration of the campaign. Wayne didn’t even use Galaxy phones! But authenticity can be built.” – Matt Ferrigno

According to the trade show’s official website, Tez also mentioned that Wayne will have a television series coming out next year that maybe premiering on the Netflix platform and has just finalizing a big deal to launch his own fashion line with American Eagle!

Lil Wayne was the featured guest on the latest episode of Mike Sherman‘s “Before The Fame” series.

The show included old interviews with Wayne, as well as new interviews from Trina, Kevin Rudolf, engineer FatBoyMixx, Tammy Torres, producer Bigg D, and a music trivia with random people on the street.

During Trina‘s interview, she spoke on dating Tunechi, why he is one of the greatest, and confirms he will be featured on her new album The One. Tammy also talked about dating Tune, being in love with him, and how he is not the same person as he was 10 years ago.

For Kevin‘s interview, he discussed how he got signed to Cash Money, what it is like working with Weezy, their chemistry together, and reconnecting on “I Will Not Break“. Stephen McDowell aka FatBoyMixx, who did work on Tha Carter V, chatted about Lil Wayne‘s work ethic, witnessing Wayne record a whole song from scratch in 15 minutes, and called him “the no. 1 rapper”.

Music producer Bigg D spoke about producing JAY Z and Mr. Carter‘s “Hello Brooklyn” collaboration, revealed Weezy is his “favorite artist” that he was worked with, called him “a legend” in the industry, and says all the new generation rappers “pretty much got it from Wayne“.
