While on the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards last month (June 26th), Jeremy Hecht caught up with DJ Drama, Sonny Digital and Seddy Hendrinx for an interview.

At the 1:15 mark of their conversation, Drama recalled Lil Wayne claiming he is the “Best Rapper Alive” on the Dedication 2 mixtape, revealed his favorite Wayne verse of all time is “Cannon“, and placed D2 in his top 3 mixtapes of all time.

Sonny named “Hustler Musik” and Seddy named “Money On My Mind” as their favorite Tunechi verses. You can check out the full convo after the jump below!

At the 5:25 mark of their conversation, Pooh discussed being influenced by Lil Wayne and revealed his favorite Wayne verse of all time is off the “Sky Is The Limit (Ride For My N*ggas)” song.

They all say the song is from the earlier Dedication mixtapes, but I think we all know it’s from Da Drought 3 tape. Shiesty also recalls making his friends listen to Weezy‘s bars very closely!

Lil Wayne Reveals His Top 5 Rappers, Why He Made Best Rapper Alive, Working On Old School Hip-Hop Beats For His Next Project & More

Lil Wayne was the special guest on episode 1 of DJ Khaled‘s brand new podcast dubbed “The First One“, which premiered on Amazon Music.

During their 45-minute conversation, Weezy spoke on his very first rap group with B.G. called The B.G.z, going by the name Baby D, first meeting Birdman, his “Block Burner” song, being influenced by Missy Elliott in the Hot Boys days, and more.

Around the middle of the discussion, Tunechi revealed he has been sent 3 old-school hip-hop beats to spit over for his next project (presumably No Ceilings 3) and 2 of them are: “Ether” by Nas and “Takeover” by Jay Z. However, after a quick Google, Tune realized he already did a freestyle over “Ether” on SQ1.

Wayne also talked about his favorite verse, his top 5 rappers, his top 5 anthems, the “We Takin’ Over” verse, creating the “Best Rapper Alive” song off Tha Carter II album, his The Suffix mixtape that was hosted by Khaled, and confirmed there will be another album in Tha Carter series. Tory Lanez recently sat down with Rob Markman for a one on one interview with Genius‘ “For The Record” series, which you can watch in full below.

To wrap up the conversation at the 39:15 mark, Lanez was asked to recite a verse acapella of someone who he was a fan of growing up to which he started to rap Lil Wayne‘s classic “Cannon” verse from Dedication 2.

After reciting all of the verse word for word, the Canadian artist then revealed it is his favorite verse from Wayne and his favorite verse ever from that era. Earlier on in the interview around the 15:00 mark, Tory also discussed his new “Thoughts” collaboration with Weezy and Lloyd off Chixtape 5 too!
