Lil Wayne Talks Quarantining, Elvis Presley, Rikers Island, Kobe Bryant, The BGz & More

Lil Wayne recently chopped it up with DeSean Jackson for a virtual interview on episode 3 of his “Fade The Booth” series.

During their 1-hour conversation, Weezy spoke about quarantining, surpassing Elvis Presley, his mother being a chef, growing up in New Orleans, his little brother Semaj, fatherhood, his son’s wanting to pursue a rap career, signing to Birdman and Cash Money Records, and his group with B.G. called The B.G.z.

Also in their convo, Tunechi talked about how he was put in solitary confinement for having an iPod in Rikers Island, giving back to charity, learning to play the guitar better for his album Rebirth, Green Bay Packers, skateboarding, YG being a very underrated skater, knowing and remembering the late Kobe Bryant, and much more!

Lil Wayne Says Drake Is The Only Artist Who Makes Him Want To Adjust His Verses

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Tha Carter IV, Lil Wayne hosted a Q&A session on his Twitter page where he answered questions from fans all about his C4 album.

In the question and answer session, Weezy revealed why “How To Love” was the hardest song for him to create, how Tech N9ne and Andre 3000 ended up featured on Tha Carter IV, and that both “President Carter” and “Nightmares Of The Bottom” were written while he was locked up inside Rikers Island.

Tunechi also hinted that he may be featured on Drake‘s upcoming Certified Lover Boy album with a “#CLB” hashtag when answering a question about if he has ever received a verse that was “so hot” it made him want to go back to the recording booth and adjust his own verse:

“The answer is the same person every time and that person is Drake. Everything Drake sent back, I always have to go back and [redo]. It’s always because he says something in there that make me be like: ‘ooh, I could make more of the song and capitalize more of the song off of something that he just said and that I didn’t say’… That’s always the person.”

Lil Wayne Releases A Trailer For Upcoming Film About Him Leaving Jail & Recording Tha Carter 4 Album

To celebrate Tha Carter IV turning 10-years-old yesterday, Lil Wayne has dropped a trailer from his upcoming film that will be released in the Fall of this year.

In the trailer, we can see never-before-seen behind the scenes footage of Weezy going to jail to when he came home, courtesy of DJ Scoob Doo.

The sneak peek also shows Drake bringing Tunechi out at his concert in Las Vegas to welcome him home, as well as Tune recording “Blunt Blowin’“!

Peter Gunz Opens Up About His Son Cory Gunz Signing To Lil Wayne & Young Money

Peter Gunz recently sat down with ChangeofplanZ for a one on one interview that you can watch below.

Around half way through the video, Peter confirmed his son Cory Gunz is still signed to Young Money, shared his thoughts on if he thinks that deal helped or hurt Cory‘s career, and revealed how the Gunna loves to be around Lil Wayne.

The rapper and reality star also opened up about what Wayne did for his son is something that can only happen once in a lifetime. He went on to say that as soon as Cory signed to Weezy, he ended up going to jail and when the Gunna went to see him inside Rikers Island, he was told he was up next. Tune kept that promise and featured him on one of the first singles he dropped when he was released from jail (“6 Foot, 7 Foot“), but Peter admits they were supposed to go on from there, however, they “dropped the ball”!

Lil Wayne‘s former recording engineer Mike Banger recently participated in a Q&A (question and answer) session with a Lil Wayne Discord server that you can read in full below.

If you were not already aware, Banger is a RIAA-certified, multi-Platinum and Grammy award-winning recording engineer that has recorded and mixed numerous Tunechi projects including Tha Carter IV, Rebirth, I Am Not A Human Being 1 and 2, We Are Young Money, Sorry 4 The Wait, Dedication 4 and 5, and No Ceilings etc, as well as also produced a few tracks for Tune.

In their interview, Mike talked about Wayne‘s recording process, the difference between Wayne being high and sober in the studio, what percentage of Wayne‘s music actually gets released, and witnessing Wayne record “6 Foot 7 Foot” straight from prison, as well as everyone being out of their minds from mushrooms for the “No Worries” session. He also revealed Weezy has unreleased music with both Michael Jackson and Dr. Dre!
