Lil Wayne Chats To Kevin Durant, Nav & Swizz Beatz About How Often He Records Music, Not Being Allowed In Toronto & More

I previously posted up Lil Wayne‘s full conversation with Eminem at the weekend, and now we can check out the rest of episode 3 of the “Young Money Radio” show on Apple Music that took place on May 8th.

Throughout this radio show, Wayne revealed he is working on a new song with hip-hop group Griselda (not the 2 Chainz one), he is a fan of Killer Mike, he has a collaboration on the way with Jack Harlow called “2K“, and he wishes he could of done a song with the late Pop Smoke.

Tunechi spoke with special guest Kevin Durant about COVID-19, how often he records music, and when the two of them are going to do a track together, as well as also chatted with Nav about not being allowed in Toronto with his criminal past, The Weeknd and XO, musical influences, wanting some new beats, and mentioned he just got done being on tour with Limp Bizkit… but it was actually Blink-182 he went on tour with lol!

After speaking with Jack Dorsey, who is the CEO of Twitter, Weezy chopped it up with Swizz Beatz about battles on social media, wanting to record a 10-song project over Swizz‘s beats only, buying the Iron Man crib, and shared a story of something that happened while on set of their “Pistol On My Side” video shoot at the TRUKSTOP!

Drake Recalls Always Wanting To Be As Important As Lil Wayne & Confirms He Is Not Directly Signed To Young Money Any More [Video]

Drake Recalls Always Wanting To Be As Important As Lil Wayne, Discusses His Work Ethic & Confirms He Is Not Directly Signed To Young Money Any More

For a surprise on Christmas Day, RapRadar and TIDAL released a brand new 2-hour interview with Drake that took place at his amazing new home in Toronto, Canada.

At the start of their conversation, Drizzy revealed that his goal at first was to be as important as his “mentor” Lil Wayne and that he does not think anyone in music before or after will ever have the same work ethic as what Wayne has.

After talking about Tunechi‘s “most insane work ethic”, the 6 God then recalled witnessing Tune record 4 – 5 classics in one night and seeing Kobe Bryant walk in on the tour bus during his very first meeting with Weezy to get an early release of Tha Carter III on an iPod.

Later on in the interview, Drake mentioned Lil Wayne will always be one of his favorite music artists, how a lot of things changed when he went to jail in 2010, how Wayne doesn’t listen to no other artists when he is in album mode, and confirmed he is not signed to Young Money any more.

You can check out Drizzy Drake‘s full conversation with Elliott Wilson and B. Dot in the video below, which also includes him speaking on Kanye West, Pusha T, Meek Mill, Serena Williams, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Tyler The Creator, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Young Thug, and much more!

Video: Drake Says “Lil Wayne Wants Us To Thrive”

Lil Wayne will be logging time in a New York jail cell in 2010, but the New Orleans rapper’s flame will likely be carried on despite his absence.

That’s because the Young Money top dog emboldens his troops, according to star protégé Drake.

The So Far Gone star said Wayne takes a hands-off approach when it comes to grooming his camp, a strategy that should pay off as the collective’s We Are Young Money project picks up steam in the new year and releases from Drake and Nicki Minaj hit shelves.

“I think the best thing about Wayne is that he doesn’t really get too involved in us developing as artists,” Drake told MTV News recently in Toronto. “He doesn’t give his input on how we should be, or how we should rap, or how we should dress. Wayne just gives us the opportunity. If you drop the ball, you drop the ball. But Wayne’s gonna give you the setup. Wayne is gonna throw you the alley-oop — you just have to cut to the hoop and slam.”

Drake said Wayne has put him in a position to succeed by letting the Toronto lyricist discover himself as an artist, a feat that will undoubtedly take place for the rest of the YM roster while the boss is away.

“With that being said, he really gives you the space and lets you become your own person,” Drake said. “He respects [artists that know] about themselves. He doesn’t want to shape us all. I don’t really know who wants to do that anymore. That was like, in ’96 or something, when labels would be like, ‘You got to be like this.’ Wayne doesn’t want to do that. Wayne wants us to thrive as the people we truly are, which is great.”
