DJ Raj Smoove Talks First Meeting Lil Wayne, Recording 10,000 Bars & More

DJ Raj Smoove sits down with Nolazine TV from his personal studio in New Orleans for a one on one interview.

Throughout their convo, Raj revealed how he first met Lil Wayne from being on tour with Cash Money Records, how the “Greatest DJ in the world” tag came about, and much more.

The NOLA DJ also mentioned that Weezy wanted to record Sqad Up mixtapes after the tour wrapped up and so they all did that at Smoove‘s personal studio.

He even explained what it was like recording Tunechi spit the 10,000 Bars” song aka SQ7 and witnessing him rip off the pages from his notebook, which was actually the last time Tune ever wrote his raps down!

Around the 20:00 mark of their conversation, Gillie recalled Birdman once giving him a check that bounced and hearing Lil Wayne‘s diss song towards him, “Problem Solver“, for the first time, as well as why he thinks the issues first started between the two of them and why he responded to it.

Before saluting Tunechi and Baby, the Philadelphia native also wouldn’t reveal if he actually wrote raps for Tune, however, he did say he wrote verses for Cash Money Records. I just want to point out that Gillie has confirmed in past interviews he never wrote for Wayne and it’s public knowledge that he did write for the #1 Stunna… so there you go!

Here are two rare videos of Lil Wayne on the tour bus during the Cash Money Millionaires days for #ThrowbackThursday today.

In one of the clips, Weezy can be seen sitting next to Mannie Fresh and Birdman and explaining to Baby that he no longer writes any of his raps down – he freestyles it all from his head.
