Lil Wayne Talks Keeping In Touch With Inmates & Correctional Officers From Jail, Retiring From A Certain Beat, Birdman, Drake & More

Jasmine Simpkins from HipHollywood recently sat down with Lil Wayne for a one on one interview about his “Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island” book that you can check out below.

During their conversation, Weezy discussed why he wrote the book in jail, not planning to release it, what he hopes people will get out of reading it, if he keeps in touch with any of the inmates and C.O.’s, the celebrity visits he got while locked up, and getting the news that Drake had sexual relations with one of his girlfriends.

Tunechi also revealed his “retirement tweets” last month was him meaning that he is not going to be rapping on a certain type of beat no more, he will always drop mixtapes for us fans, and his relationship with Birdman:

How are you with Baby, do you think you guys will have a friendship again?
I’m 34 baby, I’m too old for friends.

You guys were more like family…
No, his last name isn’t Carter baby, he’s not family.

Lil Wayne Talks About His Fellow Inmates, Getting Into A Fight, Hearing His Son Say

Later this month, Lil Wayne will release his “Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island” memoir, and today, the first few pages from Wayne‘s book have surfaced online via Vulture.

In the pages, we can read what the first few days were like in prison for Weezy, what exactly he got up to, what he ate, who the inmates he got along with were, getting a suicidal-protection aide job, becoming friends with C.O.’s, getting into a fight on the yard, finding out the news Drake had slept with his girl, rapping for inmates, being visited by Diddy, Kanye West, Chris Paul, and more.

Tunechi also revealed he cried when he first heard his cell door lock behind him, he heard his son Dwayne Michael Carter III say “da-da” for the very first time over the phone while locked up, he never ever wants to go back to jail, and being told Drizzy wants him on his “Light Up” remix and to record his verse over the phone. Lil Wayne Shared The Same Cell With Ashanti Stalker In Rikers Island

Ashanti recently mentioned to Yahoo Music that Lil Wayne shared a cell with her stalker, Devar Hurd, while doing time behind bars at Rikers Island back in 2010.

The singer explained that when her and Weezy had a studio session in 2011, Wayne told her he was in the same cell as Devar, who was jailed for harassing Ashanti, and all the inmates treated him like an outcast.

Katie Couric Interviews Lil Wayne On Season 2 Of Her Talk Show [Video]

Earlier today, season 2 of Katie Couric‘s talk show premiered on ABC and one of the special guests on the show was Lil Wayne.

Tune talked about their first interview from four years ago, the story behind his seizures, why he stopped drinking syrup, co-writing “How To Love” with Detail for his daughter and daughters all over the world, why his mother made him drop out of high school, his time in jail, being an influence for kids in New Orleans, skateboarding, and then reviewed Katie‘s revamped minivan.

This Monday on September 9th, Lil Wayne will be a special guest on the season 2 premiere of Katie Couric‘s talk show. Weezy F Baby, who has already finished the taping in New York City, will chat about his time in prison, how important us fans are to him, high school, his family, the health scares that he had earlier this year, and more.
