During their conversation, Tez Poe discussed how he first became the manager of Lil Wayne, recalled how they first got scammed for a concert, revealed how he felt when Drake asked him to be his manager, and more.

The former manager of Tunechi also spoke on how close Tune actually came to signing a deal with Jay Z and how they had the Roc Nation / Def Jam contract in front of them ready to sign. Cortez mentioned that this woke Cash Money Records up, as well as explained what him and Weezy learned from the initial CMR deal!

Lil Wayne Opens Up About His Role Model Jay-Z

As it is #ThrowbackThursday today, we can watch a rare Lil Wayne interview with MTV News back in 2006 all about his “role model” Jay-Z.

In a conversation with Shaheem Reid (see below), Tunechi recalls Jay telling him he is “that dude” and that he see’s him, which Tune then says that acknowledgement is better than actually receiving a feature verse from his idol.

Wayne also opens up about how tough it was to not sign with Jay-Z when the opportunity was there, but he states he is a loyal dude and that is why he stayed with Cash Money Records. To date, even though Weezy and Jay have had a little beef in the past, it was actually the Roc Nation CEO who helped the Young Money CEO pay off his huge tax bill a few years ago!

Back on January 26th earlier this year, Lil Wayne hosted a birthday bash for DJ Stevie J at STORY Nightclub in Miami, Florida.

During the party, Weezy also got on stage and performed “A Milli“, “Lollipop“, “Steady Mobbin’“, “Truffle Butter, and “Bitches Love Me” live, as well as jammed out to Stevie J and Migos’ “Heard Ah That” single.

At the end of the show, Weezy let everyone in attendance know that his Tha Carter V album is “coming soon”. He also dissed Cash Money and shouted out Roc Nation:

“C5 coming soon, fuck Cash Money, it’s the ROC”
