Dustin Poirier has extended an invitation to Lil Wayne to accompany him during his final walk to the Octagon at UFC 318.
The event is scheduled for July 19th at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Poirier, a native of Lafayette, expressed his desire to have Weezy walk him out to “Drop The World“, the same song he used for his UFC debut against Josh Grispi in 2011.
In an interview with The Ariel Helwani Show, the professional mixed martial artist shared:
“My first fight in the UFC, when I fought Josh Grispi, I walked out to Lil Wayne. If Lil Wayne was to walk me out in New Orleans, I’ll walk out to Lil Wayne in my last fight.”
“I walked out [in] my debut against Josh Grispi [to] ‘Drop The World’. So, if he does ‘Drop The World’, I’ll come out to him in my last fight. Hit ’em up, he has my number… if he sees this, hit me up Wayne.”
UFC 318 will feature The Diamond‘s retirement bout against Max Holloway for the BMF title.
This fight marks the third meeting between the two fighters, with Dustin winning the previous two encounters.
The event also includes several other exciting matchups, such as Marvin Vettori vs. Brendan Allen and Amanda Ribas vs. Tabatha Ricci.
As of now, Tunechi has not publicly responded to Poirier‘s invitation. So Wayniacs, do you think Tune will walk out The Diamond at UFC 318?
"If Lil Wayne wants to walk me out in New Orleans, I'll walk out to Lil Wayne in my last fight and switch it up from James Brown… So, if he does Drop the World, I'll come out to it."
This would be legendary stuff in NOLA. 🙌 @DustinPoirier pic.twitter.com/hSLAihmxlF
