While at the 2012 Magic Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20th, Lil Wayne showed off his new SUPRA shoe line that he has called “Chimera“.
Weezy also spoke with MTV at the event about his own line of sneakers with SUPRA, where the name “Chimera” comes from, how he balances his music and fashion businesses, the meaning behind his TRUKFIT clothing line, if he thought TRUKFIT would be as successful as it is, his own personal style and why he dresses the way he does.
What are your thoughts on the footwear design and will you be purchasing a pair when they are released on May 1st, 2013 ❓
Above, you can listen to the audio off another clip from MTV‘s interview with Lil Wayne that took place at the 2012 Magic Convention on August 20th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Weezy speaks on how he isn’t satisfied with Young Money‘s accomplishments, which just shows that he won’t be retiring from music anytime soon.
“The competitive person I am, it makes me feel great, awesome, excited and all that … but overall, it makes me feel undone. It’s a whole lot of unfinished business.”
Wayne will be attending the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on September 6th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Let’s hope he picks up the awards for the two categories he is nominated in – “Best Video With A Message” and “Best Hip-Hop Video“. Also, I wonder what Tune will be wearing this year after all of the controversy he got last year for closing out the awards show wearing skinny leopard pants (not leggings like everyone thinks) ❓
Jason Ross from JackThreads chopped it up with Lil Wayne on August 20th at the 2012 Magic Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. They talked about his TRUKFIT clothing line, how he came up with the name for the brand, how hands-on he is with the apparel, and how he manages to stay humble with all of his work.
Carrying on with his interview with MTV, Lil Wayne speaks on how “awesome” Nicki Minaj’s free Pepsi concert was to make up for Young Money’s cancelled Summer Jam 2012 set. Weezy also says that he doesn’t like New York, because he always has bad luck when he visits the city.
“Flat out: I don’t like New York. You’re not supposed to leave it at, ‘Everything happens for a reason’. I believe everything happens for a reason and then you make the most of that reason. I think we made the most of it last week.”
After the jump, you can view lots of pictures of Tune showing off his own SUPRAs and TRUKFIT clothing line at the annual Magic Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20th.
Lil Wayne debuted his TRUKFIT clothing line and SUPRA skate shoes collection at the annual Magic Convention yesterday in Las Vegas, Nevada. MTV managed to get an interview with Weezy at the event to talk about why he decided to partner with SUPRA for his own shoe line.
“I was just rocking ’em when I was skating and stuff and when I got real cool with the homey Stevie Williams, it was like a plug from him. It was just a mutual respect on each end so it was just bound to happen.”
“I look at the reality and the facts of it, like I been rocking this shoe before I even knew what it was. So for me to start skating and for these shoe lines to start coming at me like, ‘Hey, we wanna give you your own skate shoe,’ it was only right for me to mess with the people I been messing with even before they were a skate shoe.”
