Birdman recently sat down for a full-length interview with Nick Cannon on his podcast, Cannon’s Class.
Throughout the episode, Baby spoke on the rise of Cash Money Records, from his New Orleans roots to global success.
He explained how he discovered Lil Wayne through Lil Slim and saw something special in him from the very beginning.
“I saw no fear in Wayne when we first met,” said Birdman.
The Cash Money CEO then talked about how he became a father figure to Weezy, loving him like a son, and mentoring him closely through the industry.
Birdman praised Tunechi‘s early hustle and hunger to be the greatest rapper, especially during a time when Nas said “hip-hop was dead” and JAY-Z said he was retiring.
He recalled molding Tune to be like Tupac Shakur and making him listen to Pac‘s music all day.
Eventually, the conversation turned to their fallout, with the #1 Stunna admitting Mr. Carter‘s “hard abuse” directed towards him was tough to handle. Still, he shared how they repaired their relationship and moved past the drama.
Baby also reflected on his infamous The Breakfast Club moment, mentioned he regretted not copyrighting “bling bling“, and revealed what keeps him going every day.
Near the end, Birdman made a bold claim. He insisted that Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake have helped his record label earn over $2 billion! Check out the full episode of Cannon’s Class below.
